The YouTuber-turned-boxer defeated Mike Tyson in their controversial fight in November and many have been quick to slam the young American for fighting the 58-year-old
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has brutally hit out at Jake Paul for ‘preying’ on icons of combat sports.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul made his professional debut back in 2020 and has since gone on to face several legends of both MMA and boxing who were past their prime. So far, the 28-year-old has wins over the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz.
With a professional record of 11-1, the American’s only defeat inside the squared-circle came against Tommy Fury back in 2023. ‘The Problem Child’ immediately got back in the win column against Diaz before wins over Andre August, Ryan Bourland and Mike Perry before facing former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson last November.
Many slammed Paul for taking on the 58-year-old inside the ring. Despite not being able to get the knockout, the young American would go on to cruise to a unanimous decision victory. Ever since the controversial showdown, fans have been quick criticise ‘The Problem Child’ for going ahead with the fight. One man who has a bit of history with the social media star is Bisping.
The pair have traded barbs online before and the UFC legend recently joked that Paul wouldn’t fight him until he turns 59. Bisping was then quick to brutally slam the boxer’s career inside the ring. One fan praised ‘The Problem Child’ from testing his luck in the sport following a successful career as a Disney Channel actor, to which ‘The Count’ replied: “Sorry to say it but you’re incorrect.”
“He portrays himself as a fighter but in reality he’s a business man and not a ‘fighter’ by any stretch. Can’t fault him for that. We all want to make money. But He preys on older legends that are way past their prime. A real fighter doesn’t know they’re going to win and they don’t cherry pick fights. They take fights they know they might lose. That’s what’s exciting and inspiring to the average man. Not beating someone way past it at least 20 years younger. That’s coward s***.”
Despite Paul being accused of ‘cherry picking’ his fights, the American was recently tipped to go head-to-head with boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez. The pair were in talks to fight in May before the deal collapsed after ‘Saul’ signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season instead of facing the YouTuber.
Reacting to the stunning news, Paul slammed the Mexican’s decision, posting: “Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me Jake Paul and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil. It’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing. You cannot have the biggest fight of 2025 without my name involved.
“When all of your events tank and lose money you will all realize who the king of the sport is. 28 years old. Biggest fight in boxing history. My own boss. Not owned. 5 years in. All of you felines want to see me fail, but god has other plans. It’s the era of good. The era of the elephant. It’s the era of MVP.”
