Jeff Brazier has pleaded with his fans for help after embarking on an ‘unconventional path’ amidst news his son Freddy is to become a father at the age of 20
Jeff Brazier has asked for parenting advice following the news that his son Freddy is to become a dad at the age of 20. Freddy, the youngest son of TV star Jeff and the late Jade Goody is expecting his first child with an ex-girlfriend.
The baby would be the first grandchild for Jeff and Big Brother star Jade, who tragically died aged just 27 in 2009 from cervical cancer. Jeff, 46, is said to be “extremely supportive” of Freddy despite the recent tensions between the pair.
But late on Sunday night, This Morning star Jeff took to his Instagram to share a telling snap with his son as they lay curled up on the sofa together after a busy weekend. Model Freddy was seen resting his head on Jeff’s torso as the grandad-to-be wrapped an affectionate arm around him.
Captioning his post, Jeff said: “If someone could send me that parenting guidebook, particularly ‘early adult years the unconventional path’, that would be really helpful, thanks,” alongside a kissing and crying with laughter emoji.
While Freddy and Jeff may not have seen eye-to-eye in recent months, the doting father has put any issues in the past and has vowed to be there for his son and support him throughout his own journey to fatherhood. “It has been one of the things that has really brought Freddy and his dad back together, but it’s so devastating that Jade isn’t here to see it,” a source said.
They went on to tell the Mail on Sunday: “Jeff was one of the first people he decided to confide in to ask for advice, and he stepped up straight away and wanted to help in any way he could.” Freddy and his ex-girlfriend are believed to have endured a bitter split but are believed to have discussed reconciliation due to becoming parents.
And while Freddy has been spending a lot of time with his maternal grandmother, Jackeiy Budden, sources claim that Jeff was the “only person” that he could turn to. A source told the Daily Mail: “He has been in close contact with Jeff ever since, and has been taking his advice.
“It came as a shock to Freddy that he is going to be a dad and he needed some help navigating it. Jeff has been amazing and is helping him so much.” While the news has been a shock for young Freddy, the source went on to say that he wants to make things right and plans the “rest of his life” around his child.
Jeff and Freddy’s relationship played out across screens when they appeared on Celebrity Race Across The World, where cameras followed them as they navigated their differences. The model and his older brother, EastEnders star Bobby Brazier, were raised by Jeff after Jade’s tragic death.
But in recent years, the two siblings have taken completely different paths, with Bobby starring on the BBC One soap and reportedly making the decision to shun fame and move to India to pursue his Hare Krishna faith, while Freddy has been open about his personal struggles.
In a snippet from his new podcast, which is due to launch this week, Freddy said: “I’ve been smoking since I was 12, I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one.”
In June, Freddy said he planned to go to rehab and that he wanted to be clean in order to repair relationships within his family. He said previously: “I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.”
