Jet2 passengers should adhere to ’12-hour’ guidance before travelling

By staff26 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Jet2 operates from a host of UK airports, including Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Manchester Airport and Glasgow Airport

Anyone travelling with Jet2holidays or Jet2 Airlines for their autumn break should follow a vital 12-hour rule. The company, which is the UK’s leading package holiday provider, shares important guidance on its website which passengers should check well before travelling.

According to Plymouth Live, it previously wrote: “Please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information. Further information can be found by using the [above] search panel by entering your flight number or route. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.”

Beyond this, passengers should also note: “Please remember – check in desks close 40 minutes before this.

“In the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible.” Jet2 operates from a host of airports including Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Manchester Airport, Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Newcastle Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, East Midlands Airport, Birmingham Airport, London Luton, London Stansted, Bristol Airport, and Bournemouth.

It also operates flights to more than 75 destinations across Europe and beyond.

When is the best time to book flights?

Getting affordable flight deals can sometimes seem challenging, but help is available. Skyscanner recently identified the best and worst times to buy international tickets, highlighting specific seasons and weekdays.

The travel comparison site examined historical data to identify these trends, while also addressing a frequently debated question about holiday planning: is it better to book well in advance or wait for last-minute bargains? Unfortunately, there is no straightforward fix for this issue, as Skyscanner emphasises that it mainly depends on the destination.

While less popular routes or off-season travel dates may see prices drop significantly close to departure, popular destinations are likely to see prices rise sharply. Nevertheless, irrespective of the time of year, Fridays and Sundays are reportedly amongst the poorest times to reserve flights owing to heightened demand.

Data reveals that cheaper tickets are actually more common on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when bookings tend to decline.

“Based on past pricing trends, fares have dropped on Tuesday mornings after Monday deal releases,” Skyscanner wrote previously, according to the Liverpool Echo. When asked if prices decrease nearer a departure date, it added: “Sometimes, especially if seats are still available.

“But prices also tend to rise as departure nears. Last-minute deals exist, but they’re never guaranteed. You can also use the Skyscanner Savings Generator to find the best time to book flights based on your route.”

Skyscanner recommends booking short-haul flights at least one to three months in advance to avoid disappointment. For long-haul journeys, tickets should be booked two to six months prior to departure.

Anyone wanting to monitor fluctuating airfare prices can use Skyscanner’s notification feature. To activate it, choose your preferred route and click the ‘Get Price Alerts’ button located at the top left of the website.

This service requires a Skyscanner profile, and notifications are sent to the email used during registration. Google also offers a similar alert service through its own flight cost monitoring platform.

Google’s advice reads: “You can track flight prices for specific dates or, if your plans are flexible, any dates. To get flight alerts for a specific round trip, choose your dates and flights and select Search. Then, you can turn on price tracking.”
