JetStar flight JQ464 was forced to turn back to the airport it departed from just minutes after take-off when a concerning issue was discovered with the aircraft
A Jetstar flight was forced to turn back just minutes after take-off following a concerning discovery.
Flight JQ464 left Tullamarine Airport, in Melbourne, Australia, at about 1:40pm today (local time) before it had to turn back after a reported issue on board. After it landed at about 2:25pm, an issue was discovered with one of the plane’s wing flaps.
The return was part of a precaution and the issue with the wing flap made no impact during the landing. All passengers disembarked safely and were moved onto a new flight after the plane landed without issue.
The new flight was scheduled to leave just before 4pm the same day, MailOnline reported. The Mirror has contacted JetStar for comment.

There have been numerous cases of planes being forced to turn back or land early after take-off, although they are not always due to issues found with the aircraft itself. earlier this month, a Jet2 flight bound for Cyprus needed to land early after take-off from Manchester.
The plane landed in Cologne, Germany, after a “drunk” British woman was arrested after she allegedly attacked crew members on board. The woman was described as being “heavily intoxicated” and was apprehended after the plane landed at 7:20pm.
She allegedly kicked, punched and hurled insults at other people on board the Jet2 flight. Mathias Kämpfer, a spokesperson, said: “In consultation with Cologne police, she was taken to the station for further processing and placed in police custody to sober up.”
In one particular case, a Delta Air Lines flight managed to complete its journey from Orlando Airport to Austin-Bergstrom despite a piece of the plane coming apart mid-flight. Passengers looked on in horror as a huge chunk of the wing came apart and was left dangling from the “shaking” aircraft leaving passengers terrified they would crash.
“We felt it was bad turbulence. The plane was shaking,” passenger Shanila Arif said. “The lady in front of us opened the window and told us it is broken. I opened the window and got scared,” she told CNN.
After landing, “it was observed that a portion of the left wing’s flap was not in place,” Delta Air Lines said in a statement. “The aircraft has been taken out of service for maintenance,” it added.
