Joe Swash sent his and wife Stacey Solomon’s followers a message after they were inundated with messages surrounding the wellbeing of their dog, Teddy, after his major operation
Joe Swash has sent a heartwarming message to fans who have shown concern over his family dog, Teddy. Last week, the former EastEnders man’s wife, Stacey Solomon, took to social media to issue the heartbreaking news that the pet pooch needed major surgery.
After the huge scare – and harrowing silence from the pair in the days that followed – Stacey issued an update on the animal’s health. Now, Joe has thanked their followers for the empathy shown at this tough time.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Joe reshared his wife’s post on the pet’s wellbeing. The image showed Stacey kissing spaniel Teddy, who had plasters in his front leg. Joe wrote: “Thank you so much for all your lovely messages about Teddy.” He signed off with a love heart emoji.
It came several days after Loose Women panellist Stacey apologised for keeping fans in the dark about Teddy’s plight. She had initially said the “next 3-4 days are crucial”. However, her update came over a week after she first broke the news of Teddy’s issues.
Sharing an emotional video, Stacey admitted the dog “might not ever fully recover”. However, she was pleased to reveal he had returned home following his spell at the vets.
Stacey revealed Teddy suddenly “lost the use of his back legs” on Good Friday. The horror moment left the family in turmoil, with Stacey admitting he had shown no signs of pain beforehand.
She went on to explain their dog had suffered a burst disc and revealed vets described the severity as “all of his spine is not looking good at all”. They told her all of the dog’s discs were looking “really worn”.
As she began to open up further, Stacey emotionally said: “He is home. I got to bring him home last week so he made it through the operation and through the period of time where it was the highest risk following the operation and I got to bring him home.”
And the former X Factor contestant revealed she has had to cancel work commitments in a bid to be there for the canine.
She continued: “I have moved my work to work from home and cancelled some things so that I can try and help him recover.
“I do physio with him every day and I have to express his bladder throughout the day. And he’s on medication.”
Stacey confirmed Teddy is now on crate rest for at least four weeks following the major operation. She again teared up as she revaled “this might be Teddy forever” if he isn’t able to fully recover.
