Jon Venables could walk free in MONTHS after killer wins his latest parole hearing

James Bulger’s evil murderer Jon Venables could be freed from jail in just a few months if the killer wins his latest parole bid

Killer Jon Venables could be freed from prison in just a few months time after the evil man won his latest parole bid.

James Bulger’s murderer was released from prison in 2001 but recalled to jail twice for child abuse images offences. Venables, who was 10 when he abducted and killed two-year-old James in 1993, is expected to appear in front of officials again very soon to try and have his parole granted.

The killer is reportedly likely to have another chance in front of a panel next month, meaning if his request is approved the murderer could be free in the autumn. Venables previously had a parole request denied in December 2023 as officials ruled the notorious murderer posed a risk and had not been honest with probation bosses.

James’s parents, Denis Fergus and Ralph Bulger, are allegedly raging at this news and are writing statements as to why their sons killer should remain behind bars, according to The Sun.

A source said: “It is outrageous he is getting another shot at freedom — how many chances does he need? If ever there was a case where they should throw away the key, surely this is it.

“The family have been assured he will be dealt with as a ‘high-risk’ case and it will take a lot to see him freed. But it is still a huge concern that he is allowed to re-apply so quickly. Denise and Ralph are angry and anxious.”

In a statement, the Parole Board said: “We can confirm the parole review of Jon Venables has been referred to the Parole Board by the Secretary of State for Justice and is following standard processes.”

Venables and Robert Thompson abducted the young boy from a Merseyside shopping centre, tortured him and left his mutilated body on a railway line in Liverpool. Both were convicted in 1993 and each handed a life sentence despite their young ages.

In 2001, Venables was released after eight years in youth custody, however just nine years later he was found with child abuse images on his computer and recalled to jail.

He was freed in 2013, but once again had to be recalled in 2017 over further vile images. Despite only receiving a 40-month prison term, his past three parole bids have failed.

The former Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood is previously said to have told James’ parents Denise and her ex-partner Ralph that she doesn’t want to see Venables freed.
