Liverpool can begin planning for next season after being confirmed as Premier League champions and one of their more recent signings could potentially be on the move
Jose Mourinho is plotting a summer raid on Liverpool having targeted a move for Federico Chiesa. The Reds have already been confirmed as Premier League champions, and with nothing else to play for, they can already get their planning underway for next season.
Arne Slot will be given money to add to the squad in the summer, while a couple of current Liverpool stars could be on their way out of Anfield. And despite only signing for the club last summer, Chiesa could be one of those.
According to A Spor, former Chelsea boss Mourinho has told Fenerbahce chiefs to target a move for the Italian wideman in the upcoming transfer window. It is suggested that Liverpool would demand around £8.5m for Chiesa, having signed him for £10.1m last summer from Juventus.
Since then, a combination of injuries and the form of other players have limited Chiesa’s contributions at Anfield. The 27-year-old has made just 12 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice.
He now faces an uncomfortable wait to see if he makes enough league outings over the final weeks of the campaign to claim a winners’ medal. Boss Slot has already given his take on Chiesa’s lack of action, suggesting that he found it tough to oust Mohamed Salah amid his sensational form.

Speaking earlier this season, the Dutchman said: “It wasn’t only that I didn’t see a lot of him because we had so many games but it was also because he was injured more than he and we wanted. At the moment, he is in competition with Mo Salah and I don’t think you can deny Mo has quite a good season.”
Chiesa is under contract will Liverpool until the summer of 2028 and despite the rumours of an exit, Paul Merson has urged Liverpool to reconsider. Speaking with SportsKeeda, the Arsenal icon said: “I know Federico Chiesa hasn’t been involved regularly, but if they have the option to keep him, they should in my opinion. He has just been unlucky. I mean, how do you get into that front three?
“Liverpool did not have many injuries this season, but that could change next year. Salah will also be away for the Africa Cup of Nations next season, so it makes sense for them to keep Chiesa at the club.”

Chiesa could join a number of familiar faces in Istanbul should he move to Fenerbahce. Mourinho is of course managing the Turkish side, while Edin Dzeko, Allan Saint-Maximin, Dusan Tadic, Fred and Sofyan Amrabat are among the former Premier League stars turning out for the club.
