Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his next job in football with the former Liverpool manager set to return to the sidelines – but not in a managerial capacity
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his return to the touchline in a cheeky video that reveals his latest venture. The German departed his role as Liverpool boss during the summer of 2024, and has remained firm ever since that he had no appetite to get back into management.
The 58-year-old made his comeback to football in January 2025 when he accepted a consultancy position with the Red Bull organisation as their Head of Global Football.
Additionally, it emerged last month that he had also secured a new position with the German Football League (DFL), joining a specialist panel focused on enhancing the country’s football.

However, Klopp has now revealed his latest role, confirming he will work as a pundit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States with Magenta TV, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Announced through a social media clip on Friday morning, the former Liverpool boss could not help but tease a sideline comeback before clarifying the true nature of his upcoming position.
“Many of you have always known better,” he said in a voiceover alongside footage of him walking around a stadium. But I truly couldn’t envision it for myself.
“Going back to the sideline? I don’t miss anything. This is what I always thought. But now it is tingling again. Grass underneath my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be really close again.”
Klopp then addressed the camera as he shut down suggestions of a managerial return once more.
“Oh? No, not as a manager,” he clarified. “I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026.”
Klopp was then seen video-calling German television host and journalist, Johannes B. Kerner.
“Hi Johannes,” he began. “I’m in! See you on June 11 in Mexico! Cool sentence. Except for Indiana Jones, probably nobody can say it.”
In addition, Klopp teased his return in the caption accompanying the video, writing: “Grass underfoot, stadium atmosphere, very close! Back to the sideline, I’m looking forward to it!”.
