Kai Havertz breaks silence after operation and details Arsenal role moving forward

By staff16 February 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Kai Havertz has successful gone under knife after being dealt a season-ending injury blow with Arsenal having to make do without the German in their pursuit of the Premier League

Kai Havertz has spoken out following successful surgery and insists he’s ready to give Arsenal “all the support in the background.”

The German has led the line for the Gunners for much of his time in north London but was dealt a huge blow during the team’s training camp in Dubai. Havertz suffered a hamstring injury which will now rule him out for the season – further adding to Mikel Arteta’s injury problems.

Arsenal are now struggling for attacking resources but Havertz is on the road to recovery. He admits he’s had to deal with a “physical and mental” challenges over recent days.

He, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are all missing for the north Londoners, who are looking to chase down Liverpool in the Premier League title race, but Havertz is ready to do what he can from the sideline to aid the team’s ambitions.

Mikel Merino brings Arsenal back down to earth with admission on new role

He wrote on Instagram: “The last few days have been tough to process both physically and mentally. But yesterday was a good day. A successful op and a win. Thanks for all the messages of support over the last few days, it’s really helped. I’m now focused on my journey to full fitness and giving all the support I can give to the team in the background.”

Without Havertz and some of his team-mates Arteta had to start with a frontline of Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling as they struggled at Leicester City. Two late goals from Mikel Merino eventually helped them pick up the three points.

Arteta confessed that Havertz’s injury came about in an “unexpected way” but the team have become accustomed to dealing with major absentees throughout the season.

The Gunners coach said: “Certainly it is a big blow because of the injuries that we have but fortunately, we’ve been through a lot this season. We have played without Gabriel, without Saliba, Ben White all season, Tomiyasu all season, Calafiori for two months, Merino for two months, Martin Odegaard for two months, Bukayo Saka for three months, Gabriel Jesus… all of them.

“So that’s it, that’s the challenge ahead. I love it and look forward because we are still where we are with all the things I mentioned on top of playing four times with 10 men, blah blah blah. Let’s see what the team is made of.”
