Now Prince William and Kate have been the Prince and Princess of Wales for several years now, it has been reported that they are set to use a new royal power, which could spark some eagerly-awaited announcements
The Prince and Princess of Wales have seen a huge raft of changes since their royal roles changed.
William and Kate were granted their current titles after the death of the late Queen in September 2022 – and it has seen second-in-line to the throne William step in for his father, King Charles, more and more. Last year, the pair took some time away from the spotlight while Kate underwent cancer treatment and William looked after his wife and three children. But with the dawn of a new year, and Kate slowly returning to duties, it seems they are hoping for a more positive 2025.
And with it, it has been reported they may be close to using a new royal power – the ability to grant their first royal warrants. According to the Daily Mail, the couple hopes to announce their first set of warrants, which will be highly coveted by businesses, although no firm date has been set.
Warrants are granted by senior royals to businesses as a mark of being the official supplier of goods to that particular royal. Last month, the King and Queen granted a list of warrants to suppliers including Camilla’s hairdresser Jo Hansford and champagne company Bollinger.
Companies holding a royal warrant, which is granted for up to five years, are recognised for providing goods or services to the monarchy and are allowed to use the coat of arms of the royal they are associated with on packaging, as part of advertising or on stationery.
And now with reports that William and Kate could grant them, it has sparked a fan frenzy with many debating over which companies could be the lucky companies to receive them.
One fan speculated on X some of Kate’s famous fashion brands Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham could be in line for accolades. While another added: “Maybe Cadbury will get one from him. Louis was seen with a Cadbury selection box recently, so we know the Waleses’ are fans.” And one fan even joked if it would be possible for William to grant one to his beloved football team Aston Villa.
The news comes after William and Kate enjoyed a long Christmas holiday spending precious time with their three children. But it seems that is all set to come to an end very soon with the royal couple heading back to reality with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. During the festive break, the Wales family headed to Anmer Hall, their country retreat in Norfolk, where they spend most school holidays.
However, as the three children head back to Lambrook School tomorrow (January 8) it means William, Kate and the kids will have to travel back to Windsor to their Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor in order for the children to be ready to be back at class at nearby Lambrook on Wednesday.
It will also mean that Kate will spend her 43rd birthday on Thursday in Windsor, with William and their three children no doubt wanting to spoil Kate on her big day.
