Princess of Wales is known to follow healthy Mediterranean-style diet and healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner meals – with porridge playing a key part
Kate Middleton’s is known for many things, from her royal duties and sublime fashion taste, to her charitable activities and interest in fitness. The latter especially has been a hot topic for years, with many interested in how the mum-of-three structures her daily eating.
Her diet has been heavily reported over the years, with her day-to-day meals said to be heavily focused on fruit and vegetables. For breakfast, she is said to eat foods from a Mediterranean diet – including plant based produce, like a green kale, matcha, spinach and blueberry smoothie.
She is also thought to regularly enjoy a bowl of oatmeal. And being a busy mum and often an athletic princess, it’s no surprise she is reportedly a fan of slow-burn energy oats.
Oatmeal, otherwise known as porridge, is known for being a ‘superfood’. Oats can help keep you fuller for longer, which can stop you snacking or overeating, and in turn, potentially help you shift unwanted pounds, as consuming filling foods can assist you in reducing calorie intake.
Because oats provide a great amount of soluble fibre, eating a bowl each morning can keep you feeling full and satisfied for an extended period. For weight loss-friendly oatmeal, it’s ideal to opt for filtered water or unsweetened almond milk, steering clear of plant milks that have lengthy ingredient lists.
Oats contain a type of fibre called beta-glucan, this helps the body balance blood sugar levels and prevent spikes and crashes that can lead to overeating. Oats are also recognised for their ability to lower cholesterol and help regulate blood sugar levels.
Aldi has a fantastic deal on a 1kg bag of porridge oats for only 90p, which breaks down to just 9p for each 100g serving. You can enjoy these oats by mixing them into yogurt with some berries and nuts, or simply cook them with milk for a classic breakfast option – just avoid adding sugar.
Oats are also helpful when it comes to combating tiredness. They are an excellent source of energy due to their rich content of complex carbohydrates – a bowl of porridge transforms into energy that your body gradually absorbs throughout the day.
Oats are packed full of thiamine, phosphorus, magnesium, and B vitamins such as niacin and folate. Together they collectively collaborate to assist your body in energy metabolism.
