The Princess of Wales today found herself navigating an all too relatable fashion dilemma as she met with the Trumps, with concerned husband Prince William on hand to show his support
As arguably the most fashionable member of the royal family, the Princess of Wales, rarely puts a foot wrong. But today, she showed she’s just like the rest of us after experiencing an all too relatable fashion dilemma, according to a lip reader.
Looking stylish as ever, Kate donned a burgundy Emilia Wickstead dress and matching hat by Jane Taylor, finished off with a feather brooch and her signature bright smile.
As she walked to meet President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, few looking on would have realised something was amiss.
However, as picked up by a lipreader, the 43-year-old mum of three was struggling with her heels as she attempted a graceful walk across the grass.

Lipreader Nicola J Hickling told The Express that she believes the Princess of Wales revealed “My heels are sinking” as she and husband Prince William walked across the Windsor Castle lawn.
While many of us will have no doubt suffered this sort of uncomfortable and potentially embarassing issue, few will have done so with the eyes of the world upon them.
Showing concern for his wife, William thoughtfully asked, “Are you okay though?”. Thankfully, Kate remained the very picture of elegance, and it’s understood their meeting with the Trumps was a success.
Earlier this afternoon, Kensington Palace issued a statement revealing that William, Kate, and the Trumps had a “warm and friendly” meeting inside Windsor Castle. No details of what exactly the two couples discussed have been released by the Palace.
Meanwhile, royal fans were surprised to see First Lady Melania crack a rare smile as she greeted her old ‘pen pal’, King Charles. Melania isn’t known for showing her emotions, but today could be seen beaming from ear to ear as she reunited with Charles.
In her 2024 memoir, the mum of one revealed that she found unexpected common ground with Charles during their initial meeting in New York in 2005. It’s understood that the pair maintain their friendship through old-fashioned written correspondence, bonding through their passions for architecture, gardening, and the arts.
As revealed in her book, Melania enjoys an “ongoing correspondence with King Charles III”, clarifying that she and her husband “exchange letters” with the King “to this day”.
Their shared interest in environmental issues reportedly brought them closer during the Trumps’ 2019 state visit to the UK. Slovenia-born Melania penned: “The evening’s state banquet was a formal and elegant affair.
“I was seated next to Charles, and it was an absolute pleasure to reconnect with him. Our paths had crossed many years ago in New York City. This time, we engaged in an interesting conversation about his deep-rooted commitment to environmental conservation.”
At tonight’s glittering state banquet, both King Charles and President Trump are expected to deliver short speeches after what has proven to be a jam-packed first day of the state visit.
