Kaye Adams ‘unable to sleep’ after ‘sh***iest weeks ever’ amid BBC bullying allegations

By staff30 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Kaye Adams has now spoken out after being taken off air from her BBC Scotland radio show earlier this month, amidst allegations of bullying being investigated

Kaye Adams has opened up about one of the “most distressing” periods of her career.

Loose Women star Kaye has she is “unable to sleep” after having the “sh***iest weeks ever” amid her BBC bullying probe. The broadcaster was removed from her position at BBC Scotland earlier in the month after junior staff members accused her of bullying.

The 62-year-old allegedly shouted at other colleagues and this was reported under the broadcaster’s Call It Out scheme. Kaye has now said that the last few weeks have been the “most distressing” of her “professional life”.

The star has said that she hasn’t been dealing with the situation too well but hopes it will get sorted. She said that she didn’t see the incident happening but is trying to get through it.

In the latest episode of How To Be 60, the podcast she co-hosts with Karen MacKenzie who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, Kaye spoke about how she was doing.

She said: “I have to warn you if you’re here for the laughs you might be disappointed because we have both had the s****iest weeks ever, albeit for very different reasons.”

Kaye when then asked how she was feeling and she sarcastically said: “Oh, I’m great!” She then went on to speak about how she has been getting up later in the morning than usual, meaning that her partner Ian Campbell’s alarm now goes off before her’s.

She added: “I tell you what I’m finding hard is not sleeping cos I love my sleep and I’m not sleeping so well. I tell you something – this is gallows humour – because I’m not getting up at 6am like I used to, it’s Ian’s alarm that goes off first.

“I don’t usually hear Ian’s alarm because I am up and out and away. Do you know what Ian’s alarm is? Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life!,” she said.

Kaye has denied that any incident ever happened at BBC Scotland. Kaye has been replaced on air by Connie McLaughlin while investigations are ongoing.

The veteran broadcaster, who earns around £155,000 a year for her three-hour phone-in show, said she has been inundated with messages of support since being suspended.

The Daily Mail reported that a senior BBC Scotland figure said: “Interviews have been taking place with those working on the show and those who have previously worked with her.

“It’s not just about one incident; they are looking back over the years. A number of people have spoken about experiences they’ve had with Kaye but the investigation is still ongoing.”

It is still unknown when the investigation will come to an end or when Kaye will return to her usual slot on the radio.

When the incident was first raised, a BBC Scotland spokesperson said: “We would not comment on any individual case. If any complaints or concerns are raised, we have robust internal processes in place to manage these.”
