An interview with Keith Urban over a year ago seemingly pointed to the potential cracks in his marriage to Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, a journalist has revealed
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman stunned the world when their split was announced earlier this week. However, it appears the music legend had been dropping hints that all was not well much before their divorce became public.
It was revealed on Tuesday that Nicole has since filed for their divorce, despite claims saying the separation was “unwanted” on her end. But now, an interview from a year ago seems to hint Keith wasn’t happy with how things were going.
It’s claimed that during a chat with The Times, it was evident the Grammy Awards winner was getting frustrated at the amount of questions that he was receiving regarding his Hollywood star wife – and how she held an intervention over his alcohol addiction shortly after their wedding.

The Times said his “shield was raised” at the line of questioning at the time. They said before his wife was mentioned, he was “charm personified” and happily discussed his music.
However, journalist Ed Potton added: “When I brought up that intervention [Keith attending rehab] he snapped. ‘I just don’t want to give you guys a headline about my wife,’ he said.”
In their TikTok video, the outlet’s reporter continued: “He never lost his cool but there was a deep sensitivity underneath that brush off.” He added that Keith “knew the drill” when it came to interviews.
Ed went on to claim that Keith’s marriage to Nicole had “undeniably boosted his success and his sobriety” and that he will always remember the snippyness at the end of their chat as Keith once again shut down any mention of his wife.
He said that he felt that it wasn’t the interview that had made him this way, but more so the “burden” that Keith may have felt being married to a global superstar.
Following news of their split, it’s thought Nicole and Keith have agreed to a unique custody agreement. The pair share two daughters and it’s said Keith will only get to see them for just under two months a year.
Court documents show that Nicole and Keith have agreed a parenting plan in which the actress is the primary residential parent. It shows she will have their daughters for 306 days of the year, while they will stay with Keith for the other 59 days.
It shows that Keith will be with his children from 10am on Saturdays to 6pm on Sundays every other weekend. Nicole will then have them for the remainder of the time.
They will also divide special occasions. The country singer will get to spend Father’s Day and Thanksgiving with his daughters, while his soon-to-be ex wife will be with them on Mother’s Day and Easter.
The document specified that they will still be required to make major decisions, such as anything educational, regarding their children together.
It states the two must not “speak badly of each other” or about other family members. Also, Nicole and Keith are both required by the agreement to “encourage” their children to “love the other parent”.
