Kerry Katona, 44, and her children are said to be ‘devastated’ after her fiancé Ryan Mahoney moved out of their shared Cheshire home following their recent break-up
Kerry Katona is said to be “devastated” after splitting with her fiancé who was “like a dad” to her youngest children.
The Atomic Kitten star was engaged to fitness guru Ryan Mahoney – but the pair split after a “breach of trust” that led to a breakdown in their relationship. The former I’m a Celebrity winner has revealed that Ryan has now vacated their shared Cheshire home and admitted she is “really struggling” after their break-up.
Kerry, 44, is reportedly finding the split particularly hard due to the close bond Ryan had built with her children, 21-year-old Molly, 20-year-old Lilly-Sue, 16-year-old Heidy, 14-year-old Max and eight-year-old DJ. A source has claimed that also the star’s children are “devastated” about Ryan moving out – and that Kerry “hates seeing them upset.”
Talking to The Sun, the source said: “Kerry’s kids are really devastated about Ryan moving out – it’s hit them really hard. He was like a dad to them because he has been in their lives for such a long time. Kerry hates seeing them upset, it makes her sick to her stomach so she is doing everything in her power to make sure she is constantly checking up on them. It’s been really hard explaining to them all why she and Ryan have separated, but she is trying to be strong for them and is putting her own heartache to one side to ensure the kids are supported.
“They are her top priority in all of this.” It comes after Kerry shared a statement on her break-up with OK! Magazine, saying: “Last week I spoke about how Ryan and I were having a tough time and now he has moved out of the house. We are no longer together and it’s been a really tough week – I never in a million years thought this would happen. Without going into too much detail, there has been a breach of trust between us.
“I don’t know if we’ll be able to work it out or not, but I do still love him so much. I feel like everything has heaped on recently and it’s so much to deal with, I am really struggling. But I know I can get through it no matter what happens, I’ve been through break-ups before and come out the other side, so we just need to see what happens.”
Kerry opened up following her Instagram post that left fans startled when she claimed to be “single”, which she swiftly clarified as a prank to amuse her mother. In her column last week, she addressed the confusion, sharing: “I’m sure you’ll have all read the ‘news’ about me splitting up with Ryan after I flippantly said I was single on my Instagram to make my mum laugh. It was a throwaway comment that I made between my mum, my best friend Danielle and me but it all spiralled out of control.”
Earlier today, Kerry posted an empowered video on Instagram which also appeared to confirm her split. In the clip, she can be seen throwing her arms up and dancing to Adele’s Rolling In The Deep, miming the lyrics “we could have had it all.” She shared the joyous video with her 842k Instagram followers, writing in the caption: “Would actually help if I even knew the words!! My kids hate the fact I’m such a morning person but it’s been a while since I’ve woke up happy and in love with myself and knowing my self worth.
“Seriously I know not everybody is into therapy and it’s been a very very long time since I’ve sat down with @thespeakmans but I strongly suggest that EVERYBODY has some sort of therapy! I’ve been through so much trauma in my life from a very young age, especially in the last 10 years that I haven’t really dealt with and then to the fact I’ve been questioning my own personality! I’m actually a f*****g hoot!”
Kerry continued: “Yes I am completely bonkers but I’m loyal faithful and I would do anything for anybody and I love extremely hard. The main thing now is I need to love me even harder. There’s still a lot more work to do on myself and that is why I am so grateful to have @thespeakmans and to work on these schemes.”
