Killer’s chilling excuse after butchering two women in ‘horror movie’ rampage

Jazwell Brown, who has today been sentenced to life in jail with a minimum term of 39 years, made a shocking remark to officers after stabbing Joanne Pearson and Teohna Grant to death in a frenzied rampage

On Christmas Day last year, two women lost their lives in a brutal rampage ‘straight out of a horror film’.

Jazwell Brown, who has today been sentenced to life in jail, attacked his partner Joanne Pearson, 38, and neighbour Teohna Grant, 24, in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

He then drove away “like nothing had happened”, to the shock of neighbours who’d been carrying on their festive celebrations.

The 49-year-old double killer, who used a kitchen knife in the attack, also attempted to stab two others to death -Teohna’s partner 29-year-old Bradley Latter, and a teenage boy.

Both Bradley and the teen were hospitalised with serious injuries, but thankfully survived. Joanne and Teohna tragically both died at the scene.

Today Brown was was jailed for life for the two murders, and was told he will serve a minimum of 38 years and 194 days behind bars. He was also sentenced to 18 years for attempting to kill the teenager, and 21 years for attempting to kill Bradley, both to run concurrently to the murder sentence.

Following his arrest, Brown chillingly told police: “I lost my cool tonight”. He went on to describe his crime as “plain murder, not self-defence”, the Mail Online reports.

Back in April, during an in person hearing at Luton Crown Court, Brown confessed to two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He also pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of a knife in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, Joanne’s pet Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Tilly.

Remembering the aftermath of the shocking incident, a witness, who did not wish to be named, previously told the Mirror that a man “walked out of the flat super chilled with his hands in his pockets.”. They said: “It was like nothing had happened. He got in his car and drove off, no fuss. It was nuts.

“We heard banging on a door next to us, and there was a lad covered in blood and shouting ‘I’ve been stabbed’. He had a chest wound and a head wound. We looked out and on the balcony of one of the flats, there was a woman in distress saying, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’.

“There was a dog, which is a bit like a staffie, running around the estate for an hour and a half covered in blood. It went in my friend’s porch and there was a pool of blood.”

They continued: “They have lived there about two years. The whole thing was crazy; my boy had to hear all that on Christmas Day. I had to calm my family down; it was so distressing. When the police arrived, they flashed torches up to the balcony where the woman’s body lay. It was horrendous.”

Handing down sentencing today, Mr Justice Kerr told Brown: “The terrible crimes you committed on that day have torn apart the lives of many people. I have seen and heard the moving statements by your many living victims.

“Joanne’s mother, Susan Pearson, has lost her loving daughter. Her sister Samantha is also devastated. Joanne was 38 when you murdered her. She will never see her parents, sister and large extended family again.

“Christmas will be a time of dread, stress, grief and mourning for the family. They are haunted by the suffering Joanne must have endured in her final minutes.”

During April’s hearing, Charles Miskin KC, defending, stated that Brown had shown remorse for his actions and that he was “profoundly sorry”.

Celia Mardon, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said that the “inexplicable” attack was an act of “mindless violence”. She said: “This was an inexplicable attack which has done irreversible damage – robbing two women of their lives and seriously injuring two others.

“The strength of the prosecution’s case, which featured compelling witness, CCTV and forensic evidence, gave Jazwell Brown little choice but to admit his guilt, and we are pleased that those affected by this tragic event have been spared the process of a trial.

“While we may never know why Brown committed such mindless violence, we must remember the two lives that were needlessly lost. Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of Joanne and Teohna, and we hope that today’s result provides them with some closure.”
