The Mirror’s US editor Christopher Bucktin reports on the best of the most bizarre it-could-only-happen-in-the-USA stories in his The Buck Stops Here column. This week, Trump sends his future daughter in law off to Greece just in nick of time

PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump has dispatched his future daughter-in-law to Greece, just hours after photos emerged of her fiance, Donald Trump Jr, holding hands with another woman.

Caterwauling news anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle, 55, has been appointed America’s ambassador to Greece, meaning she will be based thousands of miles away in the capital, Athens. “For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally,” Trump announced on Truth Social.

The announcement’s timing raised eyebrows, as it coincided with Trump Jr, 46, being photographed getting cosy with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, 38. Still, it didn’t stop Junior from taking to X to gush about his fiancee’s new gig: “Kimberly loves America and will be an amazing leader for America First.”

Florida estate agent Jason Valiant has taken “holiday hustle” to a whole new low, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, who labelled him the “scumbag of the season”.

Valiant was hired to sell an elderly couple’s property, but instead of closing deals, he allegedly closed in on their entire lives. “They thought they were hiring a realtor,” Chitwood said. “Turns out they hired a wolf in sheep’s clothing who saw dollar signs instead of humanity.”

When both victims became ill and needed hospital treatment, authorities say Valiant forged documents to name himself the couple’s healthcare surrogate and power of attorney. To top it off, he reportedly signed a Do Not Resuscitate order for one of the victims, who was subsequently taken off life support.

Marjorie Fiterman, 102, and Bernie Littman, 100, have set a Guinness World Record for being the oldest newlyweds, showing love knows no age limit.

Their combined age of 202 years and 271 days broke the previous record. Guinness confirmed the news by cheekily posting: “Proof that you’re never too old to find love.”

The Philadelphia couple married in May after more than a decade of companionship at their senior living facility.

Their wedding was reportedly a charming affair, filled with family, friends and plenty of laughter. “At our age, it wasn’t love at first sight – our eyesight isn’t that great,” joked Marjorie.

Turns out fighting crime wasn’t paying the bills, so Colorado officer Shannon Lofland turned to a different kind of “undercover” work. After 21 years on the force, the 44-year-old resigned when her bosses discovered she’d been moonlighting as a porn star.

The former head of the Arapahoe County Sheriffs’ driving academy traded teaching road safety for a spin in the adult industry. Lofland told her bosses she needed a second job as she was struggling to make ends meet, but she still ended up unemployed after an HR investigation.
