Lancôme just dropped a new vanilla version of its cult favourite La Vie Est Belle perfume, and I’ve never had so many compliments on a fragrance whilst wearing it
Whether you consider yourself something of an expert when it comes to perfumes or have had one die hard favourite for years, you’ll have no doubt heard of Lancôme’s La Vie Est Belle. The fragrance is a top pick for many, with a fragrance that’s a signature scent for a whole host of age ranges.
However the classic perfume has just been given a major upgrade in time for autumn, with the La Vie Est Belle Vanille Nude launching just last week. The new version is everything I love in a perfume; sweet, warm and floral, and promises to be long lasting, so I couldn’t wait to try it out.

The new La Vie Est Belle Vanille Nude comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes, which are priced at £69, £97 and £127 respectively, which is pretty standard for a designer fragrance. With vanilla currently the top trending fragrance note on TikTok, Vanille Nude is the perfect upgrade to a classic. The exact notes are:
- Top notes: bergamot essence, orange essence, pink pepper
- Heart notes: jasmine, iris, fluffy coconut accord
- Base notes: vanilla, white musk, sandalwood
I was instantly a fan of the perfume from the very first spray, which was sweet, subtle and slightly sultry without feeling too heavy or sickly. La Vie Est Belle Vanille Nude is a great scent that can be worn both during the day and at night, and the very first time I wore it to a friend’s birthday party, I had three different people compliment me on it when I arrived.
Unlike a pure vanilla scent, though, it has a warmth thanks to the musk, pink pepper and sandalwood which makes it great for wearing as we head into autumn too. Meanwhile the more subtle floral notes mean you could just as easily wear it during the spring and summer too – a true year-round fragrance.
If you do want something that’s more of a “true” vanilla scent, Phlur Vanilla Skin Eau De Parfum is a great option, and it’s currently on sale down to £79.20 for the 50ml bottle at Space NK (down from £99). You could also pick up Beauty Pie’s Vanille Nue which is a more affordable £49 for 50ml.
However the La Vie Est Belle Vanille Nude is more than a simple perfume, as it’s been designed to act as a powerful skin scent that elevates your natural essence for a scent that will smell different on everyone. It was also designed to have great longevity and last all day, although I don’t think it lasted especially longer than some of my other high end fragrances. Still though, I could smell it on my clothes and skin a few hours after applying, so it’s one you’d only need to top up maybe once or twice during the day.
The La Vie Est Belle Vanille Nude bottle is similarly chic to the original, with a wide, square shape that’s narrow enough to hold in one hand with a curved design that fits comfortably in your palm and makes it easy to apply. The gradient pink and nude bottle is a subtle twist on the original all-pink design, reflecting the addition of base vanilla notes, and features the same signature ribbon detail around the neck.
