Sports broadcasting sensation Laura Woods is set to return to our television screens this evening for the third round of the Champions League’s league phase. Woods has become synonymous with hosting TNT Sports’ coverage of Europe’s elite club competition on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The 38-year-old joined TNT Sports’ ranks, then known as BT Sport, in July 2023, where she has also covered boxing events. Her brilliant career across various sports has seen her enjoy roles at Sky Sports, talkSPORT and ITV, where she covered the Women’s World Cup and 2025 Women’s Euros.

It has also seen her twice be crowned as the British Sports Journalism Awards Sports Presenter of the Year, earning a significant sum of money in the process. Huge Champions League wages

Woods’ move from talkSPORT to TNT Sports has proven to be a highly lucrative one. Her wealth increased from £635,000 to £1.5million from January to December 2024, according to a report in The Sun.

Paperwork from her company, The Pig and I Limited – established in 2014 – reveals her assets now exceed £1m. Her earnings have been boosted massively by her eye-watering pay rise since fronting TNT’s Champions League coverage.

She now reportedly rakes in a hefty £800,000-per-year salary, up from the quarter-of-a-million annual wage she earned from her previous employers.

‘Death threats’ fiasco

Woods claimed in August 2024 that she had received “numerous death threats” online after commenting on an article relating to boxing’s gender row at last year’s Olympics. She responded to an article in the Telegraph criticising International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach for “failing in his duty to protect female athletes” in allowing Imane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting to compete at the Games’ boxing events.

Khelif and Lin’s participation was one of the most controversial topics at the Paris Olympics, with a number of high-profile figures criticising officials for clearing them for action despite both failing a sex test previously. The boxers clinched gold in their respective weight classes at Paris 2024 amid a heated public debate over whether they should have been allowed to compete in the women’s division.

Woods replied to a post of journalist Oliver Brown’s story on Twitter, saying: “Great article”, and went on to reveal the huge backlash and abuse she received afterwards, claiming that trolls had even threatened her then-unborn child.

“Since I replied to this article I’ve had numerous death threats to myself and my unborn child,” she revealed. “Questions on my own gender (I’m pregnant so guess that clears that one up) calls for my employers to sack me, threats to my home.

“I’ve been called a racist, a bigot and a sexist as well as various insults – c***, s*** etc. I’ve also been asked why I haven’t raised any concerns on this topic before? See above for your answer.

“When there are discrepancies with test results – which could impact the safety of another human being, in an environment that above all else should be fair – questions are quite rightly going to be asked. The answers are still unclear, otherwise this topic would be closed.”

Romantic life

Woods has been engaged to former Love Island contestant Adam Collard since the autumn of last year, having first gone public with their relationship in October 2023. She returned to TNT Sports earlier this year after 13 weeks on the sidelines with maternity leave, having given birth to their son in January 2025.

Dagenham-born Laura was previously in a relationship with rugby star Alex Corbisiero for eight years, with the pair parting ways as she faced her milestone 30th birthday. Speaking openly with The Sun, Laura explained why she had no regrets about the split, which she said had been her decision.

Laura explained: “My last relationship was eight years and I was nearing 30 when we broke up. It was my decision – it was the right one and I’ve never regretted it. We’d lived in each other’s pockets and breaking up with him felt like coming up for air.

“The next thing for us was probably marriage and having kids. And I do want that one day – I love being in love and I love kids. But I’ve prioritised work because I love that too and my ambitions are important to me.” After saying goodbye to Corbisiero, Woods didn’t go public with any more romances until she met Collard.

Adam featured on the hit dating show Love Island in both 2018 and 2022 and went on to make an appearance in Celebs Go Dating in 2023. However, he ended up finding the one after a good old-fashioned slow-burn romance, having initially messaged her on Instagram DMs.

Laura and Adam welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, at the start of this year. In a simple post on Instagram in January, Adam wrote: “Leo Ernie Collard, our boy.”

He also shared images of the new addition to their family, Laura in hospital, him holding their new baby, and Leo sleeping and meeting a dog.
