Fans of Laurie Gilmore’s Dream Harbor series have spotted an issue with The Strawberry Patch Pancake House less than a week after it was published
Fans of the Dream Harbor series have spotted a problem with Laurie Gilmore’s latest book. The Strawberry Patch Pancake House, the fourth in the series, was published on March 13.
Set in the same world as BookTok sensations The Pumpkin Spice Café, The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore and The Christmas Tree Farm, the new book focuses on Iris, who fans first met in the third novel. It follows Archer, a renowned chef and single dad who moves to the small town of Dream Harbor to run a pancake restaurant.
When the Mayor suggests Archer is looking for a nanny, Iris, who has never managed to hold a job down for more than a few months, reluctantly agrees to the job. But as they get used to their new roles, it turns out they might have more in common than they first thought.

Early reviews of The Strawberry Pancake House have been largely positive, with the book scoring an average 4.06 rating across 2,679 reviews on Goodreads so far. But readers have spotted one issue with the book, and they’re “so sad” about it.
Posting to TikTok, @momentumtoni shared a video of her four Dream Harbor novels lined up next to each other on her bookshelf, alongside the caption: “This could have been so satisfying… Has this bothered anyone else?!”
Eagle-eyed followers were quick to spot the problem, noticing the difference in spine designs. The first three books were published by One More Chapter Books, an award-winning digital first publishing division of HarperCollins.
The fourth book, however, was instead published under the HarperCollins name, meaning the publisher icon on the spine stands out from the rest of the series.
Fans aren’t happy, with one writing in the comments section of Antonia’s video: “Argh!! Why?!??” Another said: “THIS!! No one else is talking about it. Mine is also printed slightly shorter than the others im so sad abt it.”
A third added: “I hate things like this!” Meanwhile, another reader asked: “I noticed straight away, why do they do it!!”
Not everyone was bothered by the change, however, with one viewer writing: “I had to read comments to see what is the problem! I didn’t notice.”
The next book in the Dream Harbor series is due to be released in September. The Gingerbread Bakery will follow Annie and Mac, a fan favourite pairing.
