Rock legend Liam Gallagher was met with jeers during the epic Oasis reunion concert at Heaton Park in Manchester, but it wasn’t his music that ruffled feathers. The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, received a rapturous reception as they entered hand in hand on Friday night at the massive outdoor venue.

However, the gig took an unexpected turn when Liam paused to make a heartfelt dedication. Liam announced: “I’d like to dedicate this to the greatest manager of all time, Mr Pep Guardiola.”

The shoutout to the Manchester City manager caused some unrest among the fans, leading to boos. Unfazed, Liam fired back: “Who you f***ing booing, who you f***ing booing.”

The camera then focused on a life-size cut-out of Pep Guardiola adorned with a Man City scarf, which was displayed on stage. The crowd’s mood lightened, breaking into laughter, and Liam kicked off a powerful rendition of ‘D’You Know What I Mean’.

Adding to the excitement, Pep Guardiola himself was seen backstage, mingling with the Gallaghers, including Noel’s daughter and Liam’s sons.

Noel paid homage to Manchester’s own comedic geniuses, Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash of The Royle Family fame, dedicating: “This one’s for Caroline and Craig” before strumming out an acoustic version of the sitcom’s theme song, Half the World Away.

Before the main act took to the stage, Cast surprised fans with a special guest during their opening set, while Richard Ashcroft gave a nod to a Mancunian music icon in his performance.

Locals without tickets have been finding creative ways to join in the fun, with some residents enjoying the concert’s atmosphere from the comfort of their gardens.

While Liam may have also hinted at tension in the band as he made a jibe at brother Noel. As he launched into Rock N Roll star, Liam quipped: “Listen up beautiful people this is going to be our last song.

“Thanks for sticking with us. I know we are difficult, but you wanna try being in the band.”
