Lidl launches ‘Dubai’ chocolate bars that you can’t buy in store

The budget supermarket will have 6,000 bars to sell – but customers can’t just get one alongside their weekly shop just yet

Lidl shoppers will soon be able to get their hands on some viral-style chocolate when the discount store releases its own version of ‘Dubai chocolate’. But, for now, it won’t be sold in a single supermarket.

Arguably one of 2025’s most hyped-up treats, the decadent chocolate has taken social media by storm, driving millions of likes on TikTok alone. But, with the original sweet priced at a hefty sum, many chocolate lovers have felt they’d have to miss out.

However, Lidl bosses have today (March 18) announced their own version of the TikTok-famous delicacy that has captivated chocoholics around the world. Lidl will offer up the J.D. Gross Dubai-Style Chocolate for £3.99 a pack, making it the cheapest Dubai-style chocolate currently available from any UK supermarket

And where better to sell the treat than on the app that’s made it so popular? For a limited time only, Lidl will have its own space on the digital TikTok Shop with 6,000 bars on offer.

What is ‘Dubai Chocolate’?

The original “Dubai Chocolate Bar” is actually called “Can’t Get Knafeh Of It.” This was created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier based in Dubai, UAE.

Popularised on TikTok, this sweet treat is a blend of milk chocolate filled with a pistachio cream and crispy kataifi (shredded phyllo pastry) filling. It is said to be inspired by the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh, a traditional Arab dessert.

The trend has led to a huge demand as recreations take shape outside of the UAE. Some have been spotted on shop shelves, including Lindt and Home Bargains. People have even tried making their own homemade versions.

This marks Lidl’s second time using the TikTok Shop to sell some of its new products. The supermarket recently used the social media site to launch its Protein Bundles, which sold out just 18 minutes after dropping on the platform.

The in-app shop works in a similar way to platforms like eBay or Amazon. It is an integrated shopping feature within the TikTok app, allowing users to discover and purchase products directly from various sellers.

Shoppers can head to Lidl’s TikTok Shop profile at 9am on Thursday, March 20, to get their hands on the Dubai-Style Chocolate whilst stocks last. These are expected to sell out quickly so anyone interested should not wait too long.
