Fragrance fans who love Sol De Janeiro could save on a similar scent from Lidl
Lidl has delighted shoppers with a £3 fragrance that has drawn comparisons to a pricier alternative. Fans think the supermarket is stocking a beauty range that smells similar to Sol De Janeiro’s popular perfume mists.
Posting on a Facebook group for ‘Bargain Lovers’, an eagle-eyed shopper praised Deluxe’s Fragranced Hair and Body Perfume Mists, which reportedly cost £2.99 each at Lidl. In the post, the customer showcased two scents: the jasmine and pink dragon fruit mist and the pistachio and salted caramel mist.
The post read: “Lidl have these [alternatives] of Sol de Janero [sic] sprays. Smells exactly like them, £2.99 and bottle is massive.” In the comment section, several viewers praised the fragrances. A fan wrote: “I have the dragon fruit one it’s smells amazing.” A second echoed: “I totally agree. They smell so lush as well. Very long lasting.”
Someone else replied: “Completely agree, the pink one is AMAZING.” Another social media user said: “I’ve got it too.. is really good and the smell lasts for long.” A viewer added: “I just bought smells amazing.”
A commenter said: “It lasts ages too, aldi do a smaller one for the same price.” Meanwhile, someone replied: “Recommend.” Yet another fan shared: “I bought this and it’s lovely the salted caramel one, had so many compliments.”
A shopper who had tried two of the scents thought: “Yes had both the pink and orange. Pink was a nicer smell.” A different response read: “I got the pink one but they’re all nice.”
A fan added: “I’m glad they’ve got these back in stock. I love them last year.” Elsewhere, a customer commented: “It’s back! I still trying to get thru mine from xmas.”
However, some shoppers weren’t so impressed. Someone thought: “These smell disgusting.” Another commenter claimed: “They smell nothing like them. The ones from Home Bargains smell more alike than these.”
Recommending Aldi’s fragrances, a different shopper said: “The pistachio one in Aldi is amazing. Smell lasts for hours…smaller bottle than in Lidl though.”
While shoppers will have to decide for themselves if they think the scents smell similar, both Lidl and Sol De Janeiro opted for similar fragrance notes for their perfume mists. Sol de Janeiro offers a Cheirosa ’68 Perfume Mist with jasmine and pink dragon fruit notes. It’s available for £24 from Space NK.

Sol de Janeiro also has a Cheirosa ’62 Perfume Mist with salted caramel and pistachio notes. It’s available for £24 from Space NK. The product description reads: “Take your senses to the beaches of Brazil with Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist. Honouring the year 1962 and embodying Bum Bum Cream’s signature scent, this uplifting fragrance features delicious gourmand notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla.
