But it seems the Boden Nina Smocked T-shirt Dress is a hit with fashion lovers as it has garnered a handful of glowing reviews, with shoppers loving how ‘flattering’ its fit is.

One said: “Really cute, lightweight and flattering. I’m 5’7″, 140 pounds and found the size six fit perfectly. I have broad shoulders and was a little worried about the detail around the neck accentuating them, but it looks cute.”

“Great dress, would buy again,” penned a second shopper, who added: “I bought a size six in this as for the last two years their sizes seem to have got slightly bigger. I bought the green version, it’s a lovely colour and I love the neckline.”

However, not all reviews were quite as positive as one person gave the Nina Smocked T-shirt Dress a three-star rating citing the dress was ‘too restricting’ on a hot day. They wrote: “I thought this would be a great holiday pull-on-and-go sort of dress but, sadly, not.”

While some aspects of the dress were loved: “The fabric of the dress is perfect for summer – lightweight, won’t crease and the colours are vibrant and gorgeous. The little cap sleeve adds a touch of interest too,” they concluded: “However, the smocking around the neckline is very tight so it is very heavy – it would be far too restricting for me on a hot summer day.”

Regarding the sizing, they added: “The sizing was pretty spot on although I preferred the slightly more fitted size 10 on me rather than the more roomy size 12. The length was pretty good for me – around an inch above the knee. I would have preferred this dress with a slightly narrower smocked width and maybe a boatneck.”
