Lioness star Michelle Agyemang’s life – from Wembley ball girl to England’s hidden talent

By staff27 July 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Lioness star Michelle Agyemang has made an incredible impact on England’s triumphant success on reaching the 2025 Euro final, and the teen footballer has certainly come along way

England footballer Michelle Agyemang may only be 19 years old, but she’s quickly proven to be a vital member of the Lioness squad during this year’s Euros. Agyemang’s talents are undeniable, but just four years prior, she was standing on the sidelines at Wembley and, in addition, has a hidden talent far away from the pitch.

The Lionesses have been on a wild ride during this summer’s Women’s European Championship. They were two goals down in the final moments of the quarter-final against Sweden and were just 90 seconds away from being knocked out by Italy in the semi-finals. Yet, Sarina Wiegman’s team managed to triumph in both matches and are now on the cusp of making history.

In their thrilling journey to today’s final, Agyemang deserves the most credit, thanks to her two dramatic goals. And at only 19, Agyemang is the youngest player in Wiegman’s squad, having only played once for the senior team before the tournament. But what else do we know about the Lioness star?

Agyemang, who hails from South Ockendon, plays as a forward for Arsenal and, of course, the England national team. She made her Lioness debut earlier this year after an injury to her Arsenal teammate Alessia Russo provided her with the opportunity to step onto the pitch after progressing through the youth ranks.

She seized that chance wholeheartedly, scoring an impressive volley just 41 seconds after coming on as a substitute. But just four years previous, Agyemang had been on the sidelines at Wembley as a ball girl during England’s World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland in 2021.

Back then, it was her first proper encounter with England’s senior national team and her first time at Wembley. Fast forward to today, and the teenager is helping lead the Lionesses to victory.

But her strikes and quick-step skills on the pitch aren’t the only impressive talents of the young star. Away from the field, Agyemang is a budding piano player and even took the instrument with her to the Euros in Switzerland.

“The kit men brought it over in a van,” she told England Football. “I’ve been having a great time on that. It’s calm and relaxing. Lotte [Wubben-Moy] came to my room and I played a few things for her.”

Music appears to play a big part in the footballer’s life. On ‘That Lionesses Podcast,’ she recalled that her two favourite artists were gospel singers Fred Hammond and CeCe Winans. “They’re a bit older, from the ’80s and ’90s. I was brought up on gospel music,” she revealed.

When she’s not scoring goals for England or playing a soothing tune on her piano, Agyemang is busy with her other hobby, Lego. “I was building a really tiny stadium the other day because I was bored and suddenly Lucy [Bronze] was like, ‘We can make this so much better’. We made a replica of the stadium and now she wants to make it a tradition, so I think we’ll have to do Geneva next time,” she told England Football.

The final of the women’s Euros will kick off tonight at 5pm.
