Liverpool dealt two fresh injury concerns as Arne Slot gives update after Chelsea loss

By staff5 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Liverpool were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday night, with the Reds suffering two fresh injury concerns during the defeat at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool were dealt two additional injury concerns during their Premier League loss to Chelsea. The Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening to endure their third straight defeat across all competitions.

Cody Gakpo had drawn Liverpool level after Moises Caicedo fired Chelsea ahead before the interval. But the Reds shipped a second goal through Estevao Willian in added time to suffer another setback, following their defeats to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.

Arne Slot will now be compelled to address some fitness issues over the international break before Liverpool return to Premier League action later this month. The Reds were already missing Giovanni Leoni for the clash against Chelsea, who remains out with an ACL injury he sustained in the Carabao Cup victory over Southampton last month.

Alisson Becker is also on the sidelines for Liverpool after suffering a hamstring injury during their defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

The injury to the Brazilian saw Giorgi Mamardashvili make his Premier League debut in the defeat to Chelsea.

Fresh fitness worries emerged for Liverpool during the loss to Chelsea with Ibrahima Konate needing to be substituted at Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back was replaced by Curtis Jones just 10 minutes into the second half, with Slot confirming that Konate had picked up a possible quad injury.

“I don’t know if it’s a big injury, but I do know that he limped,” Slot told reporters on Saturday night. “And I asked him, and he said: ‘I feel my quad a little bit’.

“But for me all alarm bells go off because in another sprint then you never know if that is going to go good, so it was already a substitution I had in mind for maybe a little bit later, because the right centre-back has a lot of ball possession, and we all know that Ryan (Gravenberch) is good in there.

“So it might be okay and he went off early enough, but it was clear that I had to take him off because he was limping.”

Liverpool are also waiting to discover if Andy Robertson suffered an injury during the defeat to Chelsea. The left-back was seen hobbling off the pitch after the final whistle, requiring help from a member of the Reds’ backroom team as he headed towards the tunnel.

Whether Robertson has picked up a knock that will keep him out for any length of time remains unclear. The 31-year-old has already been named in the Scotland squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Belarus, which was announced earlier this week.
