Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has made no secret of his desire to play regularly and he could now be offered the chance to do so by a Premier League rival
Brentford have approached Liverpool over a potential deal for Caoimhin Kelleher as their first-choice goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, edges closer to a shock move to the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bees are long-term admirers of Kelleher, 26, and were courting the Irishman’s signature last summer. Flekken has been their first-choice keeper but he is now the subject of transfer interest from Germany following another fine season in the Premier League – and talks over a switch have already taken place.
Leverkusen are now managed by Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United coach, who wants Flekken to bolster their goalkeeping options ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
And with Flekken looking likely to move on, Brentford have now made contact with Liverpool as they seek an agreement to finally bring Kelleher to west London.
The Reds agreed a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili with Valencia last summer and the Georgia international is expected to compete with Alisson for the No.1 jersey moving forward after spending one final season in Spain.

The 24-year-old’s arrival at Anfield means Kelleher is likely to be sold in the upcoming transfer window. The Guardian claim that West Ham and Leeds are also keen on the Reds academy graduate, who made 20 appearances in total this term.
However, Brentford have a strong relationship with Liverpool after signing Sepp van den Berg last summer and that could give them the edge.
Despite impressing for Liverpool and his affiliation with the club, Kelleher has made no secret of his desire to play regularly elsewhere and confirmed he was planning to move on to make that a reality during the Reds’ title celebrations on Sunday.

“Yeah, yeah definitely,” he said. “I’ve said it before as well, I feel like I’m good enough to be a No.1 and I feel like I’m good enough to play week in, week out and that’s what I’m looking to do.
“This season I was lucky enough to play a lot of games but it’s definitely something I’m looking at.”
Kelleher has made 67 appearances in total for Liverpool since breaking into the senior ranks behind Alisson, who is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest goalkeepers.
