Liverpool will be on the lookout for a Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement if the defender does join Real Madrid this summer – but one potential target doesn’t seem to fancy a move
Andrea Cambiaso has been linked with a move to Liverpool amid speculation that Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Anfield on a free transfer this summer. But the defender’s agent insists his client is ‘not interested’ in moving any time soon.
The Reds are braced for Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid in the coming months once his contract expires. Los Blancos are long-term admirers of the England star, who is out of contract and has been free to negotiate with overseas clubs since January 1.
Given Alexander-Arnold’s influence in Arne Slot’s team, sourcing a replacement for the right-back will become a top priority if – or when – his departure is officially confirmed. And Cambiaso is said to be on the Reds’ shortlist after catching the eye at Juventus.
It was reported last week that the 25-year-old could be one of the players Liverpool make a move for. However, the player’s agent, Giovanni Bia, reckons Cambiaso wants to stay at Juventus.
Bia told TuttoMercatoWeb: “He is absolutely focused on Juventus. It is normal that there are these sirens being one of the strongest full-backs in Europe. There are a few movements around, for example Alexander Arnold seems like he could go to Real Madrid but in general there are various situations that could change.

“At the moment he is not interested in anything, his objective is Juventus and to do very well there. He is absolutely happy at Juventus, he has always said it in a thousand ways and in a thousand places.
“His dream is to bring Juventus back to the highest levels, to play for Juventus and to have a great career at Juventus, helping the club to return to winning ways on a par with the European big names. But I have no doubts that within one or two years he will do it.”

Bia’s comments will also come as a blow to Manchester City, who are said to have targeted Cambiaso back in January as part of a mid-season overhaul of Pep Guardiola’s playing squad.
And that could put City and Liverpool on a collision course this summer if both clubs are in the market for a new right-back.
As the noise and speculation over his future continues to grow, Alexander-Arnold is sidelined with an ankle injury. He missed the Merseyside derby in midweek and could be absent again on Sunday when Liverpool travel to Fulham.
