Liverpool transfer news: Arne Slot drops major hint as Alexander Isak stance revealed

By staff9 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Liverpool have spent heavily this summer as they seek to retain their Premier League crown and two further big-money deals could still be on the agenda ahead of the window closes

Liverpool have not messed around in showing their hand ahead of the new season. The Reds come into the fresh campaign as reigning Premier League champions and will be very keen to retain their title.

And they look in a very good place to do that having splashed the cash this summer. Arne Slot’s side have spent over £250m this summer bolstering.

They might not even be done there either. Alexander Isak remains a very active target having submitted a transfer request to Newcastle, while a new centre-back has also featured on Liverpool’s shopping list throughout the majority of the summer.

But some outgoings might have to happen before any further deals are pushed through . Luis Diaz has already departed, while Darwin Nunez looks to be on the verge of a switch to Saudi Arabia.

More could potentially follow. With that being said, take a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from Anfield.

Isak stance confirmed

Dimitar Berbatov has revealed what Alexander Isak will be taking into account as he mulls over his future amid interest from Liverpool. He said: “Of course, maybe the pay raise, more money, because football is business these days.

“So a lot of questions that I’m sure are going to Isak. Of course his agent around him, his family around him, friends, environment is also very important. Giving him opinions, guidance maybe, and it’s going to come to a point, I don’t know if that’s the point now that we’re seeing, where you say to the club, ‘Look I’ve given enough, now it’s time to move on.’

“The club’s maybe not going to react well, especially if they don’t have the replacement in hand, so now they need to react quickly. Maybe they don’t want to let you go, because they have high expectations of you for the next season.”

Slot drops defender hint

Liverpool boss Arne Slot claims he is ‘happy’ with his options at centre-back despite the Reds having been linked with a new defender. He said: “They can definitely play there as well and you forget Joe Gomez.

“Unfortunately he [Gomez] has a minor injury at the moment but he will be back with the team soon. I’m really happy with the players we are having and we have numerous players who can play in the position.”

Liverpool have previously been linked with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who they will come face-to-face with in the Community Shield over the weekend.

Wrexham hint dropped

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has refused to confirm whether his side are set to sign Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas. The youngster has been linked with a season-long loan switch to the Championship side.

Asked about those reports, Parkinson responded: “There’s such a list of players and we seem to get linked to it with everybody. At this stage I just don’t want to really comment on any individuals.”

Koumas, 19, spent last season on loan with Stoke City, scoring six goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
