Liverpool transfer news: Reds eye Premier League double deal as three exits edge closer

Liverpool have already spent over £180million in the summer transfer window but aren’t slowing down, with eyes on a striker and a centre-back at a rival Premier League side

Liverpool have already completed five deals in the summer transfer window, but they are not showing signs of slowing down.

The Reds are bolstering their squad after winning the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s debut campaign and have already sealed some eye-catching moves. Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman have all joined Slot’s squad, with over £180million spent.

But Liverpool are still very much in the market, with a striker and a centre-back on the cards, plus replacements for any other players who might leave. There are doubts over the futures of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Harvey Elliott, so more transfers are very likely.

Here Mirror Football brings you the latest from the club, with an exciting double swoop from a Premier League rival potentially on the cards, as well as some exits.

Reds eye Mateta

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and his representatives have reportedly met with Liverpool in recent days as the Reds look to bolster their forward ranks.

The Reds are in the market for a new striker and could go after the Frenchman, who Foot Mercato claim met with Liverpool chiefs in Paris in the last few days. Mateta scored 14 goals for Palace last season, but the club are slightly vulnerable, with just two years left on his contract.

Liverpool want a replacement for Darwin Nunez, who they want to sell this summer and has been linked with Napoli. Mateta was previously linked with Manchester United, with a £40m to £50m fee mooted. It could mean a double deal for Liverpool, who are also eyeing Palace captain Marc Guehi.

West Ham target duo

West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool duo Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton this summer. Elliott is poised to leave Anfield this summer in search of more regular game time and has attracted plenty of attention after starring at the Under-21 Euros, while Morton is also a fringe player for his club side following loan spells.

The Guardian reports that the Hammers want to use the money they have earned from the sale of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham. They netted £54.5m from that deal and believe Elliott would be a good replacement, although there is interest from RB Leipzig.

No bid has been made yet but West Ham are reportedly confident they could land Elliott. He is keen to leave the Premier League winners and could get what he’s searching for under Graham Potter.

Diaz asking price

Luis Diaz has been continually linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer – and we’ve continually been told that the club are not looking to sell. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both interested in the Colombia international winger.

There’s also interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr in the picture, but that seems the most unlikely exit route. The Reds have previously made it clear that Diaz isn’t for sale for any price, but Football Insider say that £69m (€80m) would do the trick.

That can be viewed two ways: as encouraging bids, or as setting the price so high so as to make a deal unrealistic. It’s said that Bayern won’t go above £51m (€60m), so it could well be the latter, although there is still plenty of time until the window closes on September 1.
