Liverpool transfer news: Reds’ stance on Marc Guehi swoop emerges as £35m deal gets green light

By staff23 June 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Liverpool are expected to continue splashing the cash in the transfer market after confirming the club-record signing of Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have already splashed some serious cash this summer after confirming deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, but the newly minted Premier League champions have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.

Arne Slot and Co are still seeking fresh faces in other areas, including at left-back with a deal for Milos Kerkez close. And there could be more new recruits in defence before the 2025-26 campaign kicks off amid links to the Crystal Palace captain, Marc Guehi.

While more incomings are expected, outgoings are all but guaranteed. Darwin Nunez is likely to be among them after a poor season in front of goal and there is interest in the striker.

There are also still contracts to sort with Ibrahima Konate emerging as the Reds’ new top priority with his deal up next summer.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from in and around Anfield…

Guehi stance emerges

Liverpool will not be held to ransom by Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi this summer with the champions only willing to press ahead with a move if the price is right.

Guehi, 24, has plenty of suitors among the Premier League’s elite with Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle also understood to be keen on the England star. And with just 12 months remaining on his deal, Palace are not in as strong a bargaining position as they were when interest in their star defender surfaced last summer.

But with Liverpool unwilling to pay big money for Guehi, Palace may have to do a deal in order to avoid losing the former Chelsea man for nothing next year.

Jarell Quansah

Jarell Quansah will join Bayer Leverkusen after the Bundesliga outfit and Liverpool struck a deal worth £35million for the centre-back.

Quansah had been linked with a Premier League move heading into the summer, but Leverkusen emerged as serious contenders for his signature last week.

And with the cash generated from their record sale of Florian Wirtz to Anfield, Leverkusen have shook hands on a deal which will see Liverpool bank a guaranteed £30m for Quansah with the potential for a further £5m in add-ons.

Next signing ‘leaked’

Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a potential ‘leak’ from Gary Lineker after he referenced Milos Kerkez as a Liverpool player on the Rest is Football podcast.

Kerkez is widely expected to put pen to paper on a switch to Liverpool after a package worth £40million was agreed with Bournemouth last week.

But with no deal yet confirmed, an innocent mishap set tongues wagging over the weekend.
