Former PM Liz Truss blanked the Mirror as we tried to grill her about whether her Donald Trump fandom extended to his views on Volodymyr Zelensky and the invasion of Ukraine
Liz Truss asked if she thinks Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a dictator
Liz Truss walked off when asked whether she agrees with Donald Trump about Volodymyr Zelensky being a dictator.
The former PM blanked the Mirror as we tried to grill her about whether her Trump fandom extended to his views on the invasion of Ukraine. We caught up with Ms Truss after her speech at CPAC, a huge MAGA conference in Washington DC.
During her address, delivered to a half empty room, Ms Truss called for a “Trump revolution in Britain” – branding the country she led for 49 days a “failed state” going through a “dark age.”
While she wouldn’t speak to the Mirror, she was happy to sit down for a lengthy on-camera interview with Epoch Times, the far-right news organisation affiliated to the Falun Gong religious movement.
During the interview Ms Truss said JD Vance was “absolutely right” in his speech to the Munich Security Conference last week – during which he berated European Leaders over immigration policy and ‘free speech’.
And while she wouldn’t be drawn on whether she planned a return to frontline politics, Ms Truss said: “President Trump had the ultimate comeback. He’s got the ultimate playbook.
“I hope nobody in Britain faces an assassination attempt, but the way he has prosecuted the argument about how deeply corrupt elements of the state – that’s the argument we need to have.”
After leaving the interview, the Mirror asked her: “Do you think Volodymyr Zelensky is a dictator?”
Yesterday President Trump branded Ukraine’s president a dictator, because he delayed elections due to his country being under siege and bombardment by invading Russian forces.
She did not answer the question – walking briskly away surrounded by five security guards.
From behind her, another reporter asked: “Has anyone asked about the lettuce yet?”
