Lloyds says the closures are down to more people using its online banking services – but the news of more banks disappearing will be disappointing for those who rely on in-person support
Lloyds Bank is shutting another eight branches next week as part of a huge string of closures this month. The high street lender is saying goodbye to 27 branches in total this month, including seven that have already now closed.
Lloyds says the closures are down to more people using its online banking services – but the news of more banks disappearing will be disappointing for those who rely on in-person support.
There are some options if your bank is closing. Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers can use branches across any of the three banks for everyday banking, as these are all part of the same group.
You can also check if there is a “banking hub” near you, where you can visit a “community banker” for help with certain services.
“Banking hubs” are located in shared public spaces on the high street, such as libraries or communities, for customers who need to speak to someone face-to-face.
Each bank will take it in turns on a different day to occupy the “banking hub” space, but you don’t necessarily need to be a customer of that particular bank to use some of the services.
Lloyds customers can also the Post Office for paying in and withdrawing cash, checking your balance, and depositing cheques. Here are the latest bank closures.
