Logan Paul has left the door open over a potential $500million boxing bout with Conor McGregor after it appeared that the possibility had ended due to the Maverick’s involvment with WWR
Logan Paul has made it clear he is still open to a fight with Conor McGregor despite his WWE career, and appeared to reveal a phone call between the duo over a bout.
The pair had been rumoured to meet later this year at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in a clash which would net both men a huge $250million. In December, McGregor revealed that he was in talks to fight Paul but by the end of the month reports instead started to suggest the Irishman would take on Jake Paul instead.
WWE star Paul had remained quiet over the possibility of fighting the Notorious One, but had shared a poster depicting himself and McGregor alongside a grab of the Irishman’s post on X and the eyes emoji. Paul’s commitment to WWE following his move to Netflix, appeared to have poured cold water on the possibility.
Now, in a YouTube vlog titled ‘Am I Fighting Conor McGregor?’, Paul has broken his silence. The opening sequence referenced the stories that had been written about a potential bout before cutting to a scene which appeared to show McGregor speaking on loudspeaker to Paul.
“This can happen my man for real,” an Irish voice is heard saying, while Paul holds a mobile phone. “This can and will happen.”
The video goes on to show Paul discussing the possibility of fighting McGregor while preparing a promo alongside WWE writer Rob Fee. The 29-year-old raised the possibility of saying he was done with boxing.
“Saying no more boxing, that will get some attention,” he said. “Because that’s not true. If Conor McGregor wants to fight, we are running it. I mean, bro, it’s an epic fight… It would be something I’d like. Step away from the WWE for a second to do [that fight].
“$250 million, bro. I’ve got to take that. If Nick Khan matches that, I’ll stay in the WWE.”
The Maverick added that McGregor could be trying to convince UFC president Dana White about the fight. “I think he’s trying to pressure Dana into making it happen because he’s owned by the UFC,” he said. “He can’t f***ing s***, let alone fight without them knowing.”
That may prove difficult after White recently rubbished the possibility. Instead the UFC chief expects McGregor to return to mixed martial arts action in 2025.
“Eventually,” White told the Pardon My Take podcast when asked if McGregor would fight in 2025. “No, no (he won’t fight KSI or Logan Paul]. Hopefully Conor McGregor returns in the fall.”
Business partner KSI might try and sneak in on the action however. The YouTuber and boxer has admitted he would also be interested in fighting McGregor.
In a social media post he wrote: “Not rumoured. I’m very down.” The 31-year-old then shared a fake promotional poster which featured himself and McGregor. He wrote a caption alongside which read: “Let’s make this happen @TheNotoriousMMA.”
