WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT – Lola Daviet was discovered dead in a suitcase on the streets of Paris, and authorities there say the 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered
A 12-year-old girl was raped, tortured, and killed in a hideous ordeal.
Lola Daviet was found dead in a suitcase in Paris, and the swift police investigation which followed saw then 24-year-old Dahbia Benkired arrested. Benkired yesterday became the first woman in French history to be sentenced to life in prison without parole, after she was found guilty of the chilling offences.
And now, as heard in court, the gruesome details of Lola’s haunting final hours can be laid bare. Lola, who loved camping holidays with her parents, was approached by Benkired, a homeless Algerian immigrant, outside her apartment block. The killer was later caught on CCTV sneaking into the building, to which she had no access card, and loitering the corridors.
Lola is seen on camera spotting the stranger and she appears to follow her down a corridor. These are the last images of Lola alive. Eventually, three years after this chilling encounter, Benkired explained what happened next. She said in court yesterday: “I asked her to follow me, to give me the pass, and to accompany me in the elevator (…) I brought her back with me, I taped her up, I killed her.”

Forced to shower, the girl was first raped. Then, she was wrapped in tape Benkired found on the spot at her sister’s house. With her face covered, Lola found herself on the floor in the entrance hall, unable to breathe.
Benkired closed the door behind her and left the little girl to die. The murderer said: “I went into the living room, left her for a while, and then came back.” During this time, which she estimates at “two to three minutes,” she put on music so she couldn’t hear her victim struggling.
During this violent encounter, the little girl was struck in the face and mutilated with a knife and scissors on the back and neck. Doctors believe these blows occurred before and after the death. Benkired then hid the body in a large plastic suitcase.
After a quick cleanup, Benkired left her sister’s apartment. She’s later picked up on CCTV near the property’s frontage with two rolling suitcases—one pink and one black—which she uses to hold the building’s front door open. A few moments later, she returns with the trunk, which she laboriously drags toward the exit.
During the trial in Paris last week, Benkired was described as a “monster devil” by her victim’s family. She was sentenced to life in prison for the heinous crimes.
