Louise had more than just a crowd to entertain as she took to the Main Stage at Radio 2 In the Park at Hylands Park in Chelmsford. The hitmaker’s son, Beau, was watching from the wings of the stage, and he seemed to be loving his mum’s big moment.

The former Eternal member took to the stage to perform some of her most iconic songs. Among those getting the crowd singing along were Confession, Naked, Arms Around the World, Manifesting, Stay, Just A Step From Heaven, Stuck in the Middle With You, Let’s Go Round Again and Together Again.

And 16-year-old Beau watched proudly from the side of the stage as she performed. During Louise’s performance, those in the audience were caught unaware as they sang along as they received the national test emergency alert on their mobile phones at 3pm.

Among the thousands of fans in the crowd, Penny Lancaster, Charlotte Berman from the Traitors, Preeya Kalidas, and Eastenders actors Thomas Law and Francesca Henry have been spotted enjoying the festival today.

The moment followers Jessie J’s emotional return to the stage on Saturday. She gave a heartfelt message to her followers as she returned for the first time since her cancer treatment.

The 37-year-old star announced in June that she had been diagnosed with “early” breast cancer and later revealed that she had surgery following the diagnosis. She then shared last month that she was needing to delay her tour. She told fans at the time that she needed to have a second operation by the end of this year.

As she opened up to the Essex crowd on her comeback, the Price Tag songstress said: “I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today and the last show I did I had no idea what was gonna happen. And I’m still very much in the recovery process.”

She continued: “I’m just so grateful to be here. You have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years. It truly feels like I’m a little kid still doing what I love.”

And she confessed the occasion had been made even more special as her son Sky, two, was there watching on. “Another special thing that’s happening today is that my son is seeing me sing on stage for the first time.”

Later in the day, presenter Dermot O’Leary made an awkward blunder as he interviewed Belinda Carlisle following her set. The presenter was backstage with Sara Cox when they discussed the singer’s fabulous performance at Hylands Park.

As he spotted a band member’s t-shirt he said he had to get it shown on air. “. “Come over here I have to see that,” Dermot said.

The t-shirt read: “Ooh Hendon is a place on earth.” A delighted Dermot was keen to give airtime to what he thought was representing the London borough.

However, the musician quickly told Dermot it was a Sunderland reference, leaving Dermot to laugh off his mishap.

Listeners can tune into BBC Radio 2 in the Park on BBC Sounds & watch on iPlayer.
