Love Island’s Anna-May Robey claims she was stalked by an Uber driver after he looked her up on Instagram and waited for her outside her home
Love Island star, Anna-May Robey, has claimed she was stalked by an Uber driver in a terrifying ordeal.
The reality star, 22, who was on the ITV show in 2023, told her followers on TikTok that the driver “stopped the vehicle and pulled her over to look her up on Instagram” before he then offered “a refund for the trip”.
Claiming the driver was looking at her social media, Anna-May said: “I think he must have seen my name when I booked it [the Uber] and he was asking me what I do for a living. Then he asked me what my Instagram username was – He pulled over and looked at it [my Instagram account] and said he was going to refund me the money for the trip.”
After being dropped home, the influencer from Wales said things became even more “strange” as she claims to have received a phone call from the same driver just 20 minutes after she was dropped off.
The reality star, who was voted off Love Island villa after nine days on the show, claims the Uber driver then asked her to “come downstairs because he had something for her”. Anna-May claims she “freaked out” at the man’s request but ‘played along’ before hanging up and blocking his number.
The Love Island star explained she had ordered food from Deliveroo when she received the call from the random number, assuming it was an update on her delivery. However, she claims it was the Uber driver contacting her, saying he “had something” for her. She shared the story in a video on TikTok to her 76,300 followers, saying she was “creeped out” by the event.
Some viewers suggested the driver’s behaviour was a “breach of data protection”, with The Sun reporting that Uber branding the alleged incident as “totally unacceptable”, adding that it is “currently investigating”. The Mirror has contacted the company for further comment.
Anna-May says the incident, which she claims took place in September last year, has left a lasting impact on her and as a result she now tries to avoid speaking to drivers and always travels with a friend for additional safety. She also explained how uncomfortable she felt after claiming the Uber driver appeared to know so much about her personal life and details.
After sharing her experience online, the influencer said Uber’s safety team reached out to her and contacted the driver in order to investigate the incident.
The reality star explained the team told her that the driver claimed to have returned to the flat and phoned her in order to give her “an earring she had left on the back seat”. However, Anna-May believes this was a “lie” as she had not left an earring in his car.
