Winners of the second Love Island winter season, Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, became the first non-white couple to win in 2023 and are now set to get married incredibly soon
Love Island’s Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan became the first non-white couple to win the ITV show in 2023 and nearly two years later have released the ultimate status update – the date of their wedding.
The Manchester-based former PE teacher Kai ditched his villa ex Olivia Hawkins for Sanam, a social worker from Bedford, during the critical period of Casa Amor. The couple have only gotten stronger since receiving their £50k prize, during which Sanam famously dropped the ‘L-bomb’ live on ITV.
The winners moved in together just three months after the season ended, vlogging their new home after sharing that moving to their respective towns post-show was tough. Within the vlog they share that their funds were low for furniture, asking their fans not to judge, and Kai explaining that finding a shared home was the ‘next logical step’.
Just over a year after Kai turned his head, the teacher got down on one knee, posting on social media to celebrate the happy news. Kai wrote: “Introducing the next Mrs Fagan. Beautiful, caring, loving and smart are just some of the words that describe you. I love loving you, I love you and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Kai and Sanam have posted their wedding-planning journey on socials, visiting different wedding venues and finally releasing the date of their special day: 1st August 2025. The couple shared their ‘save-the-date’ in typical Tiktok fashion with fans and friends celebrating in the comments.
One fan commenting “if we voted for you to win, can we come?” and another asking “does this mean we’re all invited?” Kai even commenting on Sanam’s Instagram reel asking everyone to send the reel to footballer Wayne Rooney as an invite. With the likes of JLS’s JB commenting in congratulations, we can expect this be Love Island’s most anticipated wedding to date.
Praised for their commitment to their roles in education and social care, the winners have remained a fan favourite and continue to produce content on Tiktok, Instagram and their YouTube channel ‘The Kai and Sanam Show’. They both have shared how the fame lifestyle that seems to follow the contestants of the ITV show was not worth their relationship and that they preferred “enjoy every moment together” and “do things the other person is interested in.”
Kai previously stated: “What makes Sanam and I different is that you have to decide what you want more – the fame that comes with the show, or the person you’re in a relationship with.” He also told OK! magazine that if they weren’t working towards marriage and kids, then they wouldn’t be in the right relationship. Despite drama and disbelief on the island, its clear the couple are meant to be. The history-making currently live with dog Tinker Bell.
