Emergency response was to teen who ‘fell down a manhole’
We’ve now heard back from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), a spokesperson has confirmed the service was responding to an incident in which a teenage boy fell down a manhole cover and sustained “non life-threatening injuries”.
A spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6:31pm this evening , two fire engines from Hollins and Ashton Under Lyne fire stations alongside the Hydraulic Platform from Oldham and the Enhanced Rescue Unit from Leigh attended an incident on the M60 between Junctions 22 and 21.
“The incident involved a 13-year-old male who had fallen into a manhole and sustained none-life threatening injuries. He self-extricated from the manhole before crews arrived. Firefighters used rope rescue equipment and a stretcher to safely bring the male down the embankment and transferred him into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around one hour and ten minutes.”
