Married At First Sight star Sacha Jones has given fans a huge update on her love life as she flashes a brand new ring – but not for the reason you might expect
MAFS bride Sacha Jones seems to have finally got her happy ever after – but not in the way you would expect.
Sacha was matched with husband Ross McCarthy on the E4 dating show, but the pair’s rocky relationship came to a messy end after a brutal text was sent. Now, the bubbly bride says she’s happier than ever as she proudly flaunts a brand new ring.
The 29-year-old, from Birmingham, took to TikTok to share her news, but not all was as it seemed at her latest ‘wedding’. Instead of walking down the aisle to say ‘I do’, Sacha, an aesthetics practitioner, revealed she’s married “our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”.
“Now guys this is a purity ring and I just wanted to explain that to you,” she said, adding: “A purity ring just represents your commitment to God and vowing to stay abstinent until marriage. They’re on your hand as a reminder of your vow to God if you ever get tempted.”
Sacha was firm in her beliefs on abstinence while on MAFS, and told husband Ross she wasn’t going to be intimate with him until their relationship was ‘established’. She further explained in the TikTok video: “Since leaving the show and finding my faith you may have heard me in interviews say I don’t think I would ever be intimate before marriage now but this represents that final decision.”
She shared how she’d seen a lot about purity rings recently, and believes it was a “sign” that “God was communicating with me”. Expanding further, Sacha said that when she told her friends about her decision, they told her it was “a lot to ask” of herself, but she said: “I’m fully aware that might not meet anyone, and I’m okay with that.
“And in that case I might be single for the rest of my life but I’ll be committed to the Lord and that’s all I care about.” Sacha hopes purity rings become more popular in England. They gained traction in the US in the 2000s after the Jonas Brothers were spotted wearing them. Sacha settled on a ring with angel wings from Pandora, costing £25, and said: “A lot of the other girls also went for massive ones but I did see another video like, that’s probably not a great idea because people think yeah actually engaged and then you will probably be single forever! So yeah I just got a little one.”
However this doesn’t bother the former MAFS bride, as she said it can help cut out anyone that “wants to waste your time”. People were quick to comment their thoughts, as one follower responded: “I don’t blame you in this country it’s hard to find someone who would wait for you until marriage, I’m the same I don’t just give my body away to anyone it means more to wait.”
After a rollercoaster couple of months following the conclusion of filming MAFS UK, Sacha and Ross’s relationship disintegrated – ending with one brutal text from him back in June calling her a ‘sket’. As Sacha reflected on her turbulent time on the show, she revealed some of the hard times she’s been through. She said although she may not have fully wanted to admit it at the time, she was dealing with “unacceptable behaviour”. The star told OK!: “He’d jump straight to the names. Some couldn’t be aired, they were so bad. He once called me a ‘little f**king sket’ – that’s the text he showed Amy Kenyon on camera. After the experiment, he got even worse.”
