‘Magical’ European Christmas market is like a fairytale – but tickets sell quick

People have been left amazed by a lesser-known Christmas market in Germany that’s located in the middle of the Black Forest – but you need to act fast if you want to get tickets

As the weather is getting colder and the jumpers are being dug out from people’s wardrobes, many will start planning for any autumn and winter getaways they want to go on.

While escaping the grey and cold weather to go somewhere warm and tropical might seem appealing, this is also the perfect opportunity to go on a European getaway to visit one of the many popular Christmas markets. While Prague and Strasbourg are the homes of some of the world’s most popular Christmas markets, Germany is also known to nail the festive feel with their annual markets, which you can find in most towns.

Cities like Dresden, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt host some of the most famous markets, but people are just learning about another market hidden within the Black Forest region, and it looks like it’s come straight out of a fairytale.

“Not enough people are talking about this magical Christmas market under a railway,” one video on TikTok said as it showed an aerial overview of the seasonal market.

“We think we might have just found the most magical Christmas market… set under a railway,” they wrote in the caption of the video. “This is Ravenna Gorge, and you can visit on select weekends in November and December.”

Ravenna Gorge is located in the Black Forest in southwest Germany. Every year, a Christmas market appears underneath a stone viaduct that lights up in different colours for the event, where over 40 stalls with regional and handcrafted crafts and food.

“The market is only open on select weekends in November and December,” they said, revealing that staying near the market are priced from £64 per person. Meanwhile, tickets to the market cost 6.50€ (£5.62) before 4pm, and 8.50€ (£7.35) after 4pm, with children being free of charge.

You need to be quick though, as tickets often sell out far in advance as there’s a high demand. Tickets for the 2025 market go on sale on October 14, 2025, and can be purchased online.

Since the market is located in the middle of the forest, it’s not possible to drive directly to the market area. Instead, visitors can reach the market by shuttle bus or by hiking, though planning transportation in advance is recommended.

It’s also important to note that the shuttle bus charge 3€ (£2.60) per person, and that the walking trail can be steep at times.

However, this didn’t seem to a be an issue for people, as many viewers flocked to the comment section of the TikTok video to share their experiences.

“I was in Ravenna Gorge last year. It is just a beautiful in person,” one person commented. Someone else said: “It’s beautiful went in 2022.”

“I need to go here,” a third viewer added, with several other people echoing the same thoughts. Another person wrote: “This looks amazing, so pretty.”
