Major high street retailer to close store in another UK city

By staff26 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A New Look store in Leicestershire will close next month, the retailer has confirmed – bringing the total number of UK store closures to 14.

Fashion giant New Look has confirmed the closure of one of its Leicestershire outlets.

The high street titan is set to shutter dozens of stores by the end of 2025. Included in this cull is the firm’s Hinckley shop, located in The Britannia Centre, Stockwell Head.

This will leave just three branches of the chain in Leicestershire – one in Market Harborough, one in Leicester’s Highcross Shopping Centre and another at Fosse Shopping Park. A spokesperson for New Look informed LeicestershireLive that the Hinckley branch would cease trading on Tuesday, December 9.

The spokesperson said: “We would like to thank all of our colleagues and the local community for their support over the years. We hope customers continue to shop with us online, where our full product ranges can be found.”

According to the company’s website, there are currently 338 New Look stores scattered across the UK. Several shops in North Yorkshire, Essex and Wales have also recently closed their doors.

This announcement follows a report by LeicestershireLive that another Poundland store in Leicester city centre is due to close. This news broke after the British chain disclosed in July that it would be closing various locations, including its Charles Street branch.

Moreover, LeicestershireLive reported yesterday that four Leicestershire coffee shops were shutting down with immediate effect, including the Highcross branch.

  • Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf (February 22)
  • St Austell, Cornwall (March 4)
  • Valley Retail World, Gateshead (March 9)
  • Preston (March 20)
  • Bexleyheath, London (April 19)
  • Willow Place, Corby (June 1)

  • Devizes, Wiltshire (June 21)
  • Hamilton, South Lanarkshire (July 1)
  • Neath, Wales (August 6)
  • Brunswick Centre, Scarborough (September 17)

New Look isn’t the only high street brand being affected. Several others have also announced their closures due to various challenges, including rising costs and other economic pressures. These include: H&M, River Island, and recently Primark.
