If pumpkin spice becomes your whole personality during the autumn months, you’ll be desperate to know how to make this spice mix yourself at home for a fraction of the price
If you’ve already had your first, second, and maybe even third pumpkin spiced latte of the season, you need to listen up – because this is going to save you some serious cash.
Content creator @yourlocalplanteater took to TikTok to tell people to ‘do themselves a favour’ and stop spending so much money on buying pumpkin spice and just make a version of it at home yourself, because it tastes just as good – if not better.
She shared there are just four spices that you need to make the pumpkin spice blend, and then you can “store it in your spice cabinet and enjoy all season long”.
It’s safe to say all things pumpkin spice become many people’s whole personalities throughout the autumn months, with many posting on X, formerly Twitter, to say: “I love pumpkin spice and everything nice,” and “Pumpkin spice is so good”.
But user @yourlocalplanteater showed a pumpkin spice mix on Amazon that retailed for a whopping $18.90 (£14), so she wanted to show people how to achieve the same taste but on a budget.
To make it, you’ll need cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, and ground cloves. Take a teaspoon of cinnamon, 3/4 of a teaspoon of nutmeg, 1/4 of a teaspoon of ground ginger, and 1/8 of a teaspoon of ground cloves.
She said you can make a “small serving” of it and “in a small bowl, add all of your seasonings then stir them up and sprinkle away”.
Or, you can make a “DIY jar” of the spice, by grabbing a small jar and adding all the ingredients. She continued: “Continue to add each measurement of ingredients into the jar that is almost full. Leave at least an inch of room in the jar to give it all a good shake to combine the seasonings. Add it on whatever your heart desires some pumpkin spice on.”
