A woman shared her simple hacks for cleaning the bathroom and they’ll leave it looking as good as new in no time at all – it’s ideal if you’re struggling to know where to start
Cleaning is often a chore that’s overlooked or neglected, yet some areas of the home are crying out for a thorough scrub.
Taylor Renee stepped up to “be your mama today” on TikTok, offering a fuss-free guide to deep cleaning your bathroom perfect for those who’ve never been shown the ropes.
She began with a tip: “You always start from top to bottom, so we’re gonna do counters and sink first,” assuring her followers this “doable deep clean” shouldn’t intimidate anyone.
While tackling her sink, she opted for dish soap and Scrub Daddy cleaning paste for that extra shine, claiming it even tackles “hard grime stuck on”. “You may have to give it some elbow grease, but it’ll come off,” she advised.
Next up, Taylor suggested hitting the countertops to get them gleaming, revealing her preference for a “multipurpose cleaner” – although she conceded dish soap makes things “feel cleaner” due to the scrubbing action. “You can do the same thing on the windowsill,” she added, encouragingly.
Moving onto the mirror, Taylor highlighted the importance of cleaning with the lights off to better spot any streaks.
For glass surfaces, she recommended avoiding cloths which can leave lint, suggesting “paper towels” or even “newspaper” as alternatives for a lint-free shine.
Next on the agenda was tackling the bathtub, which she insists is “very simple”. Clear everything off it, give it a good scrub with dish soap, and she reminded, “don’t forget to do up the walls” though this will vary depending on your tile situation.
She then reached for the cleaning paste to add that extra shine “around the drain”. Afterward, she emptied the bin, disposing of the trash and slotting in a fresh bag.
Then it was time for Taylor to spruce up the loo, revealing her preference for disinfectant wipes. With two males at home, she emphasised the need to thoroughly “gets around the toilet”, adding with a knowing tone, “you know how that goes”, to ensure a spotless finish.
She also shared a nifty tip: “Shaving cream in the toilet bowl to combat any lingering urine odours.”
Taylor proceeded to “give a good sweep everywhere” in the bathroom, ensuring all debris was cleared before bringing out the mop. She stressed: “You can’t mop when there’s still dirt on the floor.”
For mopping, she swears by a mix of dish soap and vinegar, praising vinegar as a stellar “natural disinfectant”. “I just like to keep it simple while also being effective,” Taylor stated. She also advised pouring used mop water down the toilet rather than the tub.
Once all tasks are ticked off, she washes her hands and takes a moment to appreciate her sparkling clean bathroom.
