A suspected paedophile killer has been burned alive by a raging mob in Brazil.

Gregorio da Silva, 48, is said to have confessed to killing one-year-old Laylla de Assis before dumping the infant in a river in the Brazilian city of Jutai. He was initially traced and identified using surveillance footage, which was what prompted his confession when he was questioned by police.

A furious local mob marched to the local police station, and first held a peaceful demonstration demanding justice for the little girl’s killing.

But the situation soon turned ugly when the mob stormed the precinct, and hurled Molotov cocktails and bottles inside, in an incident that was livestreamed on social media, according to the Amazonas Military Police.

Officers were soon overwhelmed before da Silva was dragged into the street and he was surrounded by the villagers. As they did, they threw stones and other objects at the suspected child killer.

Beaten to the ground, a man approaches him before casually setting him on fire as the crowd cheered on. Another rioter took a large piece of wood and placed it on top of his body.

One clip showed jeering locals shouting at the suspect, whose burning body was covered with wooden pallets. Another shows the ambulance pulling up as the blaze roars on.

The little girl went missing after her mum put her to bed on a floating boat.

Popsicle vendor Da Silva later turned himself in and admitted to sexually assaulting the infant before ending her life.

In a heartbreaking video, the grieving mother was seen sitting on the ground crying out: “Why didn’t you do it to me, Lord? I deserve it.”

Cops eventually arrested her on the night of the riot for inciting the crowd. Another three individuals were also arrested.
