Manchester City have endured a rotten season this term and boss Pep Guardiola could potentially be forced into evasive action with a move for former Manchester United misfit Paul Pogba
Manchester City are mulling over a sensational move for Paul Pogba with the former Manchester United star eyeing a return to football.
The French midfielder is free to return to football in March after seeing his ban for alleged doping reduced upon appeal. He is currently a free agent after seeing his contract with Juventus cancelled.
And City have added his name to their list of potential signings as Pep Guardiola attempts to get the champions back on track. According to The Independent, City are considering options to add to their midfield in the aftermath of Rodri ‘s long-term issue.
They have been linked with Pogba on a host of occasions – at first when he moved back to Old Trafford. City were also reportedly interested in the midfielder when he was stil a Red Devil.
And while he is being considered as a potential solution to the club’s ongoing injury issues, Pogba’s own stance could represent a roadblock. It is suggested that while he is keen to play at the highest level again, he is reluctant on moving back to Manchester.
His mixed expereinces with United have also made him doubt a move back to the Premier League at all. As it stands, his preferences are either La Liga, Serie A or the Bundesliga.
Pogba, 31, recently dropped a major hint on social media regarding his future. Taking to Instagram, he shared shared a timer emoji complete with a zipped mouth and a winking face.
Pogba previously made 233 appearances for United over two separate spells, scoring 39 goals. He left Old Trafford at the end of his contract in 2022 to rejoin Juventus on a free transfer but made just 12 outings for the club before his ban.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has recently spoken out on the January transfer window. Asked if City have signings in their plans, he responded: “No. What I want is my players back – the players that we have.
“I want the squad that we had at the beginning of the season that were desperately competing. This is the only regret I have, that I don’t have these players – not new ones.
“In the right moment, we will see. The transfer market has shown how expensive players are in the past four or five years. I’m sorry, we’re not the best in those terms.”
He added: “If we need players then we go to the transfer market but I don’t know who is around. We have known it from the beginning but Rodri is a Ballon D’Or player. We are playing without the best player in England last season. That is the problem.
“It is difficult. The moment he comes back, we will be strong again. We will be a good team. Sooner or later we are going to be back.”
