Manchester City remain in a legal battle with the Premier League after being hit with 130 charges related to allegations of financial wrongdoing from 2009 to 2018
Manchester City have announced record revenues for the season which saw them become the first club in the history of English football to be crowned champions for the fourth successive year.
The Blues generated £715million – up slightly on their Treble-winning season of 2022-23 – which is more than £43m more than local rivals United banked over the same period. Confirmation of City’s standing as the Premier League’s most dominant club, both on and off the pitch, is the perfect boost ahead of the Manchester derby on Sunday.
City’s profits have fallen from £80.4m to £73.8m. But they made a staggering £139m on player sales alone during a campaign when Pep Guardiola won his sixth title in seven years. The Etihad club also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup Final, just 12 months after becoming only the second English club to complete the clean sweep.
Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “Our consistent ambition to target and achieve the unprecedented is a mark of the organisation that we have become. “On and off the field, our passion for the next challenge is underpinned by deliberate and detailed planning and a strong belief in the collaborative learning culture that we have built.
“This organisational approach is now part of our DNA. It is a product of the unwavering focus on constant improvement in every aspect of the organisation that has been in place since His Highness Sheikh Mansour became the club’s custodian in 2008.”
City are hoping to get their season back on track against United after losing seven of their last 10 games. They are also involved in an expensive legal battle with the Premier League after being hit with 130 charges over allegations that they failed to submit accurate financial information between 2009 and 2018.
The club’s annual report acknowledges the charges – but reiterates that the club have submitted “irrefutable” proof to an independent commission that supports their position. City were the most-watched club in the world last season, with 694m TV viewers tuning in around the globe to watch their games.

They also generated more video views than any other club in the Premier League, with 10 billion hits recorded on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. Chairman Ferran Soriano said: “Our fourth consecutive Premier League title was an achievement that took Manchester City to a place where no other English club has ever been.
“Winning the Treble the previous season did not generate any sense of complacency in our teams, on or off the pitch. We understand very well that the relentless pursuit of beautiful football, operational excellence and innovation requires hard work and resilience.”
