Man spots bargain in charity shop window while stuck in traffic and sprints to buy it

Bargain hunter, Marco Bolo was stuck in traffic when he spotted a toy in a charity shop window that he couldn’t resist, which prompted him to pull over and run to buy it

A man who clocked an item in a charity shop window whilst stuck in traffic has revealed he spun his motor around, unable to resist snapping it up to sell on. Bargain hunter, Marco Bolo pulled up outside his local branch of The Salvation Army when his eagle eyes spotted an intriguing toy on sale for £2.

After parking his vehicle nearby, Marco shared footage of himself dashing to the shop to avoid missing out. Chuffed the item was still there, upon closer inspection it turned out to be a plastic Disney’s Lion King playset, featuring villainous character, Scar. “Bonus – they kept the characters that go with it behind the till,” declared Marco, who was more than happy to cough up the small fee.

He added: “Definitely worth sitting in traffic. Had to pull over and sprint inside before anyone else grabbed it!”

Marco, who is a reseller, quickly sold the item on eBay, listing it as a Lion Guard [Disney Junior series] Rise of Scar playset and figures with light-up effects and sounds.

The item sold for £55 plus £4.99 postage, as Marco celebrated: “From traffic jam to £50+ profit.”

Writing in response, one TikTok user joked: “You must have really, really, REALLY good eyes or you just can sniff a bargain out.”

A second person shared a similar scenario: “Love this. I’ve done a few quick stops after nosing whilst driving past.”

Whilst a third declared: “Love this. I’ve done a few quick stops after nosing whilst driving past.”

Marco’s footage left numerous parents stunned, particularly those who own the item at home. One dad joked: “My kids have that playset and figures too! I’ll be getting that on eBay soon!”

To which Marco encouraged: “Go for it! With Christmas on the horizon there’s not better time. Let us know how you get on.”

The item’s value was news to another parent, who penned: “I have all the Lion Guard sets with the figures. I didn’t know they now sell for silly money.”

However, a third voiced worries about purchasing charity shop finds, only to discover upon returning home that things weren’t quite as they appeared. “Imagine doing that and realising it’s not what you thought,” they commented. “Happens to me all the time.”

Marco confessed in reply: “I was worried it was damaged and/or has some bits missing, especially for the price! It’s not very often I leave a charity shop empty handed so would have had a quick whizz around to see if they had anything else – hate feeling like I’ve had a wasted trip otherwise.”
