Man stumbles upon Manchester United shirt in charity shop and is floored by cost

A man was left gobsmacked after spotting a football shirt in a charity shop – and others have been left delighted too after seeing the price of the item, sharing similar finds from the same store

A football shirt discovered in a charity shop has left a shopper gobsmacked after they clocked its price tag. Spencer Gully was on the hunt for a steal when he stumbled upon the surprising gem that’s got everyone talking. He pinpointed Barnardo’s in Cardiff as the hotspot for snagging a footie shirt on the cheap.

Fellow bargain hunters have also reported scooping up low-priced, top-notch football tees while rifling through the store’s clothing selection. This particular jersey was a fair distance from its stomping ground but still managed to thrill those on the lookout for a bargain find in the charity shop.

Spencer took to TikTok to share the find, with all the steals available at this specific charity shop. He said: “Looks like they’ve got a little Man Utd T-shirt that’s six quid. Got a little worn there.”

Despite a bit of wear and tear on the Snapdragon sponsor, a £6 Manchester United top is undeniably a steal.

Other patrons of the charity shop have echoed the sentiment, claiming they’ve unearthed some fantastic football gear in Barnardo’s without breaking the bank.

One commenter enthused: “Literally found a Man United away kit from 1993 today for a fiver! Lots more footy stuff popping up.”

Another added: “I thought you may have had a try on there. The North Face looked good.” A third wrote: “Picked up two Cardiff City 2008 shirts in here for £4 each.”

Shoppers have been singing the praises of a particular Barnardo’s shop, with one regular customer commenting: “Love this street. Had some bargains over the years.”

Spencer, a savvy reseller who frequents charity shops to find items to sell on for profit, boasts an impressive collection of vintage football kits on his website, featuring teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, and AC Milan.

The enterprising content creator also offers clothing bundles ranging from £5 to £15, described as “sustainably sourced, organised and curated by second-hand experts”.

Spencer, along with mum Jeannie, runs the sustainable clothing brand. A description of their work together reads: “Working with sustainable fashion ‘Saving from landfill’.

“In a battle to preserve our planet, we have an ethical focus to fashion; offering reseller clothing bundles plus individual items. Shipped from Loughborough, in the East Midlands.

“When I started this brand in 2012, the mission was ‘Find cool clothes, find cool models’. For 12 years we held this ethos, and now we have had a change of routes.

“This is a brand to perpetuate the knowledge surrounding secondhand, business and fashion talk by Spencer Lyon, the person above who started the brand from a bedroom.”
