Man Utd ‘accept loan offer’ from European giants for Rasmus Hojlund transfer with key clause

Rasmus Hojlund is set to leave Manchester United before the transfer deadline after agreeing a deal with Napoli. The Italian giants are set to sign the Denmark international on loan with an obligation to buy included in the agreement.

Hojlund has not been involved in Ruben Amorim’s matchday squads this season as the club look to move him on in the coming days. The 22-year-old striker had wanted to fight for his place at Old Trafford despite the Red Devils replenishing their forward line.

United have splashed £200million on Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo and are now looking to bring funds bck into the club. And Sky Sports report that Napoli have agreed a deal that would see United bring in a decent fee next summer.

Napoli are set to stump up a £5m loan fee for Hojlund, as part of an overall package that could see United earn more than £43m. The Italian champions would be forced to pay £38m should they qualify for the Champions League.

Hojlund joined United for £72m from Atalanta and signed a five-year deal but has failed to hit the heights expected at Old Trafford. The striker has netted 14 Premier League goals in 62 appearances.

The deal still requires Hojlund to finalise personal terms with Napoli however. The young forward will be the second player to join the Serie A side from United in as many summers after Scott McTominay’s successful move.

The business may not end there however. Kobbie Mainoo is also pushing for an exit and is willing to join Antonio Conte’s side permanently.

Thus far, the Red Devils are unwilling to sanction a deal regardless of whether a move would be permanent or temporary. Mainoo however, has not played a minute in the Premier League this season.

Asked about possible transfers for Hojlund, Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea, Amorim made clear his stance on Mainoo. “Until it’s official, I cannot say much,” he said.

“I want Kobbie to say. He needs to fight for his place and we need Kobbie. That’s not going to change.

“I understand the players not playing in this moment are disappointed. Everyone will have the same opportunity to play. You have to fight.”
